Nebo Student, Abby Rowley, Selected Utah Valley Student of the Week for the Daily Herald

Abigail Rowley is a fifth-grader at Apple Valley Elementary in Nebo School District and is this week’s student of the week for the Daily Herald.

Abby loves to read mysteries — one of her favorites is the Nancy Drew series. She is studying gymnastics and is able to complete a back handspring on the ground. Abby is currently serving as a Student Council member for our school. She shared an experience that is a great example of the type of contribution she makes each day.

Nebo Teacher, Taryn Brown, Selected Utah Valley Educator for Daily Herald

Taryn Brown, teacher in Nebo School District at Apple Valley, was selected at the Utah Valley Educator of the Week.

Taryn Brown is a fifth-grade teacher at Apple Valley Elementary School in Santaquin. She has been teaching for 10 years. She received her education at Snow College and UVU. Along with teaching, she is also a mentor teacher to new teachers, the school community council facilitator, and teaches English to children in China.

Nebo School District Wins State Energy Award for 2018

The Association of Energy Engineers awarded Nebo School District, including Energy Specialists Bodie Bradley and Russell Maughan, an Energy Champion award for their commitment to energy efficiency through equipment, lighting, and controls upgrades.

Since partnering with Cenergistic, an energy conservation company, in 2013, Nebo School District has added 700,000 square feet of building space without increasing the utility budget. In addition, Nebo District experienced a 28 percent reduction in its electrical usage and 25 percent overall reduction in utility costs.

Nebo Academic All-State 2018-2019 Fall Sports

Student athletes in Nebo School District were recognized for their academic excellence as well as their athletic accomplishments for the 2018-19 Fall Sports season.

The Academic All-State award, presented by the Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA), is given to high school senior athletes for their accomplishments in the class room as well as in their given sport. The Academic All-State award is the most prestigious academic honor that a high school senior can receive from the UHSAA.

Nebo School District’s nurses celebrated World Diabetes Day on November 14. The nurses wore blue to bring diabetes awareness to the community and advocate for improved diabetes healthcare.

Students at Park Elementary presented and performed at Nebo School District’s November Board Meeting.

Student leaders at Park Elementary warmly welcomed attendees to Nebo’s Board Meeting, led audience members in the Pledge of Allegiance, introduced their school, and presented on how WIGs, Wildly Important Goals, have helped them achieve success.

As part of Utah College Application Week (UCAW), Payson High School hosted a College and Financial Aid Night on Thursday, November 15th. The goal of UCAW is to provide every high school senior the opportunity to complete at least one college or university application during the school day, with a particular focus on students who would be the first in their families to attend college, low-income students, or students who may not have otherwise considered applying.
