In many of the schools, the students dressed in their best attire and listened to testimonials of service. Some ideas and quotes included: “The land of the free, because of the brave,” “America, the home of the brave,” and "Freedom is not free.”

Thank you to all veterans for your service!

Technology Educator in the Spotlight

Angela Wilson, a special education/English teacher at Diamond Fork Junior High, is using more tech tools in her classroom. When thinking about going digital, Angela says, "The students tend to respond more with learning tasks online."

Ms. Wilson is developing phonics lessons with the Bill of Rights to increase student reading and comprehension skills. She is using the Hyperdocs technique. This new method employs a Google Doc or Google Website as a learning guide and placeholder for learning exercises.

Salem Junior Receives United States President Letter - Answer to Wednesday Challenge

Ed Helmick

Jon Winget is a delightfully enthusiastic instructor who has been teaching for 40 years. He wanted his seventh grade Utah History class at Salem Junior High School to get a hands on understanding of how our government works.  The United States is a democratic republic which means its citizens elect representatives to represent them. The students in Mr. Winget’s class felt the government was too large and not interested in them. Last May, Mr. Winget asked his class to write our elected officials with issues and concerns that were important to them.
