Throughout the winter months, there is an increased possibility of school disruptions due to inclement weather. Nebo School District will be open and functioning normally throughout the winter unless parents/employees are notified otherwise.

The decision to cancel or delay the start of school is a very difficult, complicated process. Nebo School District is considered a large district covering over 1,300 square miles. Conditions in one area of the district can be very different from conditions in another part of the district. Weather is unpredictable, and can change quickly.

On occasion, weather may be so extreme the district may close schools or implement a Delayed Start. Unfortunately, experience has taught us that there is no single decision that will accommodate the desires of every patron and employee. That being the case, Nebo District is supportive of individual decisions regarding safe travel during inclement weather. Please evaluate your individual situation regarding travel to school. The option to keep children home when weather conditions are severe is always at the parents’ discretion and schools have been asked to respect and honor parent decisions. Students who are kept home by a parent or guardian will not be penalized for their absence or tardiness. Make-up schoolwork may be necessary, but schools will accommodate students on the timely completion of required assignments or tests.

The following Inclement Weather document may be helpful for individuals with questions regarding inclement weather days.

Delayed Start Follow-up

Tues, 01/03/2017 = 5:00pm

We anticipate having a normal school day tomorrow, but we will post any updates here by approximately 6:30 am.

Here are a few items of clarification regarding a delayed start (it's the first we've ever done).

  • Schools will still be open, and someone will be there to receive students as they arrive, so you can drop them off at the regular time if you need to and are able to do so.
  • Delayed start does not affect the end-time of school.
  • Bus route times are affected by the delayed start. (A two hour delayed start means a bus that normally comes at 7, will be there at 9...assuming all goes well :)

Two Hour Delay

Tues, 01/03/2017 = 7:00am

Due to the recent storm, all schools will be operating on a two-hour delayed start today. This means that if your school normally starts at 8:00 a.m., it will be starting at 10 a.m. Morning-only programs, such as AM Kindergarten classes, have been cancelled. Afternoon-only programs, such as PM Kindergarten will proceed as usual. (People will be at the schools to receive students as they arrive.)

Snow

Tues, 01/03/2017 = 6:17am

Areas of Nebo School District have been affected by the recent storm. After reviewing the situation, it has been determined that schools will remain open. Any specific exceptions or delays will be posted on this website. We ask that everyone be cautious as they travel to school and work. We expect that some buses will experience slight delays based on road conditions and traffic.

Please evaluate your individual situation regarding travel to school. Nebo District Schools will be supportive of individual parent decisions regarding travel during inclement weather days and each school has been asked to work with students in regard to tardiness as a result of road conditions.
