Sunday Night Fire Update

As of 2018.09.23 - 7:00pm

First and foremost, Nebo School District would like to thank not only those that have fought the fires, but also those that have helped the many people displaced by the fires. The care, acts of good will, and kindness shown during this tragic time are lessons in life that will never be forgotten. It has been inspirational to witness how people of Utah will come together to support each other.

As many of you are already aware, the evacuations have been lifted for all areas except Covered Bridge. Nebo District is happy to report that bus service will resume to all other areas that have had the evacuations lifted. By way of clarification, the Spanish Fork Canyon bus will be running even though Covered Bridge Canyon is evacuated. We will continue to meet with local authorities and post updates and new information as it becomes available.

Once again, thanks to all who have helped during this difficult time.

Sunday Night Fire Update

As of 2018.09.16 - 5:30pm

Our hearts go out to all of those that have been affected by this terrible tragedy.  By way of update, as of Sunday evening at 5:30 p.m., Nebo School District has not received any further updates regarding mandatory evacuation areas from local authorities.  Our understanding is that we will receive more fire updates after their morning evaluations tomorrow.

After discussing the situation, the decision has been made that schools will remain open and will be operating on normal schedules.   Buses will be running other than in areas that are on mandatory evacuation status.  For many students, schools are the safest place to be during the day and a sense of normality is often very beneficial to a majority of students.  We understand that there is no single decision that will accommodate the needs of every patron and employee.  That being the case, the option to keep children home is always at the parents' discretion and schools have been asked to respect and honor parent decisions.

We know this is frustrating for all involved.  We will keep you updated if significant changes occur.  You can also get information by going to our website at www.nebo.edu.

Thank you for your continued support and patience as we deal with the ever changing fire situation.

Friday Morning Fire Update

As of 2018.09.14 - 8:00am

As of Friday 8:30 am Nebo School District has not received any further urgent fire updates from local authorities. Our understanding is that updates after their evaluations.

After assessing the situation, the decision has been made that schools will remain open and will be operating on a normal schedule. For many students, schools are the safest place to be during the day.

Unfortunately, experience has taught us that there is no single decision that will accommodate the needs of every patron and employee. That being the case, the option to keep children home is always at the parents' discretion and schools have been asked to respect and honor parent decisions.

We will keep you updated if significant changes occur.

Thanks again for your continued support and patience as deal with the ever changing fire situation.

Thursday Night Fire Update

As of 2018.09.13 - 9:45pm

We would like to thank you for your continued support and patience as we adjust to the ever changing fire situation. Nebo School District continues to work closely with local law enforcement and fire protection agencies as we monitor the fires. We have been informed that evacuations will be in place throughout the night and tomorrow morning. As of 9:45 PM, unless local authorities inform us otherwise, the decision has been made that school will held at all locations tomorrow morning (9/14/18).

As mentioned in an earlier update, buses will not run in areas that are under mandatory evacuation orders. Information will be sent tomorrow regarding afternoon bus routes as we receive more up-to-date information.
