Dr. RaShel Anderson was appointed as principal of Mapleton Junior High by the Nebo School Board of Education.

Dr. Anderson received her Doctorate of Educational Leadership from Brigham Young University in 2009. She received her Master of Arts degree from University of Phoenix in Educational Counseling and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics Education from Brigham Young University. Dr. Anderson started teaching mathematics at Spanish Fork Junior for one year and then taught mathematics at Spanish Fork High for four years. Dr. Anderson then became a counselor for Brockbank, Barnett, and Park View Elementary schools as well as Springville High for five years. Dr. Anderson was also the principal of Spanish Oaks Elementary for eight years, and the assistant principal at Maple Mountain for the past three years.

Colleagues of Dr. Anderson said, “RaShel has a high degree of personal knowledge about the educational process and the needs of students.  RaShel genuinely cares about the people she works with and works hard to create positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.  RaShel is a wonderful people person who celebrates and supports others. RaShel does a great job interacting with people - whether it is colleagues, staff, parents, or students. She can effectively communicate and show a genuine interest in others' well-being. RaShel is positive and looks for ways to solve difficult issues.”

Dr. Anderson was honored as Instructional Leader of the Year in 2007 by the Utah Association of Elementary School Principals. In 1999, Springville’s PTA awarded her as the Counselor of the Year. Students at Spanish Fork High selected Dr. Anderson as Teacher of the Year in 1994.

One of RaShel’s favorite quotes is: “They don’t care what you know, until they know how much you care.” RaShel stated, “I believe this motto rings true in every aspect of education–working with students, teachers, staff, and parents. I am so grateful I have had the opportunity to pursue a career in education. For me, there is nothing more rewarding than being a part of an educational team that helps our students learn and grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I am honored to be a part of Nebo School District who always puts students first.”

RaShel has coached softball and 4-H. She loves spending time with her family riding horses, motorcycles, and ATVs. She loves to boat, wake-board, run, snow ski, rodeo, and read. RaShel has six children.
