Sage Creek Science Teachers Train 48 Principals

Submitted by lana.hiskey on

Last week, 48 principals from around the state came to Sage Creek Elementary to learn from the best science teachers. Sage Creek teachers are involved in the  Partnership for Effective Science Teaching and Learning (PESTL) project and are now training others.

Partnership for Effective Science Teaching and Learning (PESTL) project is a partnership of five districts to improve science teaching and learning. The five districts involved are Iron, Nebo, Ogden, Weber, and Washington School Districts. The goal of this project is to improve student learning through teacher professional growth and science literacy. This PESTL project is funded by a US Department of Education grant for third- to sixth-grade teachers.

Participating teachers at Sage Creek spent three summers receiving training and materials toward increasing proficiency in teaching and learning science in the classroom.

Mrs. Anteres, Mrs. Robbins, Ms. Hall, and Mrs. Giles were the teachers who volunteered to be observed by visiting principals. The principals were “wowed” by their expertise.
