On March 3, 2011, 77 fifth- and sixth-grade students came to Hobble Creek Elementary after school to debate the issue: "Resolved: the State of Utah Should Require All State Government Buildings to Have a Renewable Energy Source as a Significant Part of Their Total Energy Use."
The Elementary debate in Utah is sponsored by the National Energy Foundation. The state debate meet will be April 28 and 29 at Skyline High School in Salt Lake City. Debate provides an excellent opportunity for students to use their skills of reading, thinking, writing, speaking, and listening.
