The Nebo School Board appointed Alyssa Larsen as the Assistant Principal of Mapleton Jr. High.

Alyssa earned her Bachelor’s of Arts Degree from Southern Virginia University, Master’s of Education Degree in Special Education from Grand Canyon University, and her Administrative Certification from Southern Utah University. She is currently completing her Doctorate of Education in Special Education Curriculum and Assessment from Liberty University.

Alyssa has been employed by Nebo School District for 17 years. She began her career as a Special Education teacher at Spanish Fork High for fourteen years and a District-Level Special Education Specialist for two years. She then served as the Dean of Students at the Advanced Learning Center for the past year.

Alyssa received the Huntsman Teacher of the Year Award in 2015.

A colleague stated, “Alyssa is a joy to be around.  She is a strong woman with a very passionate personality.  She loves students and is an advocate for learning.  Her diverse background makes her a strength in any situation and she can easily connect with others.”

Alyssa’s motto is, “They won’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. It’s all about the students and relationships we experience to create such amazing opportunities. I’ve been mentored and supported by incredible colleagues along my journey who I am forever indebted to for their belief in me. My biggest inspiration has been from my 98 year old grandpa whose life lessons have made me the leader and person I am today.”

Alyssa has two children, Ace and Brooklyn. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, going to concerts, and listening to audio books.
