Nebo School District's Summit Center will host the daCi Utah Day of Dance on Saturday, October 14, 2023.  This event is open to anyone regardless of age or ability level and is sponsored by the BYU Arts Partnership and through a grant from the Utah Division of Arts and Museums.

The daCi organization stands for dance and the Child international, with a capital "C" for Child and an emphasis on the value of dance in the life of youth and children.  The daCi organizations, found worldwide, sponsor events that offer children and people of all ages the opportunity to experience dance as creators, performers, and spectators.

Nebo School District Elementary Dance Specialist, Melanie Fillmore, currently serves as the daCi Utah Chair and worked to bring this event closer to Nebo School District families and students.  “While this event has often been held at the beautiful Tanner Dance Center on U of U campus, I really wanted to somehow bring it south and more easily share it with colleagues, friends, and families here in the Nebo School District community.”  Melanie spoke with Summit Center principal, Shawn Rawlings, and discussed options for hosting the event.  Rawlings shares, “We’re so fortunate to have a space like The Summit Center with several large spaces, conference rooms at the ready, and an auditorium available for performances.  It’s really a great venue. We're happy to host an event of this size.”

We invite Nebo School District students, employees, and families to join the daCi Utah Day of Dance.  More information and a link to register can be found at https://daciusa.org/dayofdance/utah/
