On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, the Nebo School District Youth School Board held its meeting with the Nebo School Board of Education. The Youth School Board is made up of student representatives from each of the six high schools in the district. The students are selected by their principals to be spokespersons for their schools and to provide input on educational issues to the school board.

The Youth School Board meeting began with introductions from the students and the school board members. Then, the students participated in a roundtable discussion with the board members. The discussion covered a variety of topics, including:

  • What do you love about your school?
  • What is the number one thing on your mind when you go to school?
  • Is the school meeting your social and emotional needs?
  • What would you change about your school?

The students were engaged and thoughtful in their responses, and the school board members listened intently. The discussion was valuable for both the students and the school board members, as it provided an opportunity for the students to share their perspectives on their education and for the school board members to learn more about what is important to Nebo students.

At the end of the meeting, the school board members thanked the students for their time and input. They also expressed their appreciation for the Youth School Board program, as it provides a unique opportunity for students to have a voice in their education.  The Nebo School District Youth School Board meeting is an essential opportunity for students to share their perspectives on their education and to have a voice in the decision-making process. The program is also valuable for the school board members, as it helps them to learn more about what is important to Nebo students.
