NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
REGARDING CONSIDERATION OF THE
FUTURE BOUNDARY REALIGNMENT OR CLOSURE OF
WILSON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The Board of Education of Nebo School District (the “Board”) hereby gives notice of a public hearing regarding consideration of the future boundary realignment or closure of Wilson Elementary School located at 590 West 500 South, Payson, Utah.
The public hearing will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at the Nebo School District Offices, 350 South Main, Spanish Fork, Utah, 84660. Individuals who wish to address the Board on this subject during this public hearing may do so by emailing Raquel Baum at raquel [dot] baum [at] nebo [dot] edu (raquel[dot]baum[at]nebo[dot]edu). Please provide your name, city of residence, and list the subject matter as “Wilson Elementary School.” Individuals may also sign-up to address the Board at the public hearing by listing their name, city of residence, and subject matter on the sign-up sheet provided. Comments are limited to three minutes for each individual.
Nebo School District is considering the rebuild and replacement of Wilson Elementary School on an alternate site sometime within the next ten (10) years, depending upon future elementary student enrollment in the Payson area. If a rebuild is not warranted, the school boundaries of Spring Lake Elementary School and perhaps other Payson area elementary schools will be adjusted to accommodate the students within the current Wilson Elementary School boundary. In the event Wilson Elementary School is replaced, it is currently anticipated that the new Wilson Elementary School would be located on property currently owned by Nebo School District located at approximately 1580 South 1100 West, Payson, Utah.
The main purposes of providing this notice and initiating the school closure process at this time are to: (i) inform students, parents, and patrons in the Payson area of Nebo School District’s consideration of closing the current Wilson Elementary School sometime within the next ten (10) years; and (ii) to accommodate Payson City’s interest in acquiring the current Wilson Elementary School. Payson City has expressed interest in acquiring the current Wilson Elementary School building and property for city and community purposes. By providing this notice and initiating the school closure process at this time it will allow Nebo School District and Payson City adequate time for future planning, budgeting, and property transactions with respect to the current Wilson Elementary School building and property.
