EduStaff honored Nebo’s own Elaine Huntsman as The Substitute of the Year for the State of Utah at the Nebo School Board of Education meeting on September 14, 2022.

Elaine Huntsman currently substitute teaches within Nebo School District. Before finding her calling in the classroom, Elaine owned her own daycare for 27 years. Her associates degree is in Early Childhood, and she always knew working with children was her calling. She has served eight years as a substitute teacher. Interacting with students and other teachers is what she loves best. Building relationships and getting to know the students and teachers is so rewarding.

The advice Elaine would give to a new substitute teacher would be, “Think about what age group you are interested in working with, and then go for it! Don’t base all assignments off of one or two jobs. Keep going and keep getting back in the classroom.”

In Elaine’s free time she enjoys pickleball, reading, walking, sewing, and spending time with her grandkids. Elaine has gone above and beyond for Nebo School District this year.

Nebo says thank you for being a Nebo Hero, Elaine. Congratulations on a job well done!
