Nebo Dance Festival

On Tuesday, April 26, 2022, elementary and secondary dance teachers and students throughout the Nebo School District gathered at Cherry Creek Elementary in Springville for the first ever Nebo K-12 Dance Festival.  The festival was spearheaded by Rachel Marie Kimball and Melanie Fillmore in collaboration with secondary dance teachers, with the support of Karen Kidd, the Nebo District Arts Coordinator.

With the growing presence of dance programs in Nebo schools, the event was designed to celebrate and facilitate relationships between individual dance education programs. Nebo School District now provides opportunities for students to participate in dance education in all thirty elementary schools, all five middle schools, two junior high schools, and all five high schools.

The dance festival included interactive warm up activities for all participating students and performances from the nine groups in attendance. One particular performance was accompanied by guest singer and Nebo choir teacher, Kaci Whitby. The festival was also attended by Lisa Cluff, Executive Director of Art Works for Kids, and Kelly Bruce Glynn, the Utah State Board of Education Fine Arts Team.

Nebo dance teachers and students are looking forward to continued participation in this event for years to come and seeing how it evolves in the future!
