2021-2022 District Employee of the Year – Don Remy

Don Remy – District Wide
Technical Services – Employee of the Year

“Don is a problem solver and is willing to work whatever hours are needed so employee connectivity is not interrupted. He is supportive and willing to help with the biggest and most complicated technology problems. He is known for answering calls on a Friday night to help troubleshoot even the most basic problems. Don works tirelessly to keep our district's network running smoothly so every student and teacher has access to technology.”

Angie Allphin – District Wide
Child Nutrition – Employee of the Year

“The Child Nutrition Department is serving more meals with less people. Angie happily fills in every day at various schools all over the district–from Goshen to Springville. Then, she comes back to the office and finds a way to get all her other work done. Angie goes wherever she is asked and makes the kids and staff smile. She is hard worker and very diligent about deep-cleaning kitchens. Angie has a real knack for design and often helps all of us make our handouts, posters, and advertisements better. She always leaves our kitchens better than she finds them. Angie always has a smile and positive attitude and loves serving students.”

David Swenson – Maple Ridge Elementary
Custodian – Employee of the Year

“David works so hard to keep our school clean, so clean that we could eat off of the floor. It's true. He is meticulous and dedicated to the cleanliness and organization of Maple Ridge. Many are surprised that our school is seven years old. David is the energizer bunny and is always working. He often covers multiple assignments, helps students clean up a spill, and helps students locate that missing item, often found in the trash can. He has made a significant impact on our school. David is a true Nebo Hero.”

Becki Pace – Spanish Fork High
Educational Technician – Employee of the Year

“Becki cares. She genuinely loves helping our students find paths to success and ways to improve their educational lives. Becki is tenacious in giving students the tools they need to help every student succeed! She takes the time to get to know each student, finds out why they are struggling, and identifies ways to help them. Becki advocates for the well-being and success of all students at SFHS!”

Hank Peay
Maintenance – Employee of the Year

“Hank    is an outstanding ambassador for Nebo School District in every school he is assigned. He is efficient and sensitive to costs in every project. Hank is able to diagnose problems quickly and can usually repair them on the spot. He is easy to work with and treats others with utmost respect. He is quick-witted and has a fun sense of humor. Hank’s work is impeccable and his engineering designs are a work of metal art. He is known to give out his cell phone number and answers calls at night and on the weekends. He knows how to simply solve any electrical problem. Hank is a great asset to the Nebo Maintenance Department.”

JoAnna Hall – Payson High
Secretary – Employee of the Year

“JoAnna works tirelessly to make sure our school is running smoothly. She is our registrar and has put in countless hours making sure InfiniteCampus is set up and working properly. She can often be seen working at the school on a Saturday. Teachers ask her for help all the time, and she is always willing to do what she can. She organizes community scholarships and our graduation every year. JoAnna is so friendly and makes the work atmosphere fun for teachers and students. Our school would fall to pieces without her. JoAnna is a rockstar.”

Cory Mendenhall
Transportation – Employee of the Year

“Cory is the best bus driver ever. He is always positive and kind. The students on his bus love and respect him. He is always willing to listen to a student or a parent if there is a problem on the bus. If students are not waiting at the stop yet, he will slowly drive by to see if the students are on their way out. Cory looks for ways to build up others and let them know they matter. We know that students will be safe and cared for with Cory as their bus driver.”

Kara Foran – Oakridge
Special Education Services – Employee of the Year

“Kara is amazing with our special needs students. She is self-motivated and motivates the students to do their best. She is so creative when preparing learning activities and can turn any household item, that most people would throw away, into an educational activity. Many people may consider Kara to be quiet and reserved, but she’s not! She has a great sense of humor which is shown in the classroom bulletin boards she creates.  Parents and staff comment on how clever and funny they are. Kara is truly one of a kind.”
