Coach Amy Burge said, "We are so proud of all our teams!"

Nebo loves to see our students studying the U.S. Constitution. Here is just one example:

Over the last two months, our students at Springville Junior High School have diligently studied the U.S. Constitution, including its origins and how it has evolved since the Philadelphia Convention in 1787. As a culminating activity, students participated in a program called “We the People.” Groups of students were assigned a specific constitutional question which they had to research and understand well enough to write a speech and present it to their classes. On Wednesday, February 23, the top groups from each teacher’s class met for the Second Annual Springville Junior High’s “We the People” competition where students were able to present their speeches and answer additional follow up questions posed by a panel of judges. The winning teams will go on to compete in the State “We the People” Competition on March 2 at Utah Valley University.

Nebo is proud of the hard work, curiosity, and critical thinking happening from all of our students both in classrooms and in the competitions.

Thank you to the many volunteer judges: Trent Mikesell and Rachel Neeley from Nebo School District, Springville Junior High’s Principal Tiffanie Miley and Assistant Principal Shauna Shepherd, Dr. Jeff Nokes from BYU’s history department, and Mandy Wilson and Robert Lister along with their advanced history students from Springville High School. Thank you Springville Junior High’s history department for supporting civic learning by elevating this experience for our students!
