Special Education Teachers

Nebo junior high special education resource teachers met together for their first professional training of the year.

These teachers value this professional training. Each teacher is able to learn about the changes in special education law, collaborate with one another, build camaraderie, and always learn from one another.

Mike Larsen, Director of Special Education and Federal Programs, said, “Teachers and specialists coming together monthly as special education collaborative teams have been a huge positive for our staff members, and in turn, for our students. Through this collaborative work, questions are posed, answers are discovered, professional relationships are forged and strengthened, support is shared, coherence is enhanced, and additional satisfaction and positive outcomes are a few of the results.”

Diane Hamilton, a Nebo District Level Specialist (DLS), was the leader of the professional development. She encouraged those in attendance to do an activity of “creatively” decorating a face shield. The group realized that a little break from the usual training process was a welcomed one.

A participate in attendance said, “This is a very freeing experience.”

One thing all the special education resource teachers can agree on is that this professional training is a great collaboration session to learn best practices and have a good time with each other.
