Amy Darrington Appointed Principal of Cherry Creek Elementary

The Nebo School Board of Education appointed Amy Darrington as the Principal of Cherry Creek Elementary for Nebo School District.

Amy earned her bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Brigham Young University and her master’s degree in Education with an Administrative Endorsement from Southern Utah University.

Mrs. Darrington served as the Title I Coordinator at Rees Elementary for three years and a special education teacher at Park, Canyon, and East Meadows Elementary schools. She also served as the Public Relations Specialist at Rees Elementary for the past two years. Amy received the Nebo District PEAK Award in 2014.

An administrator said, “During Amy’s time at our school, I was impressed multiple times by her dedication to the profession and her students. She is very knowledgeable in the area of Special Education and implemented professional development that helped our entire staff move forward. What impresses me most is Amy’s genuine care for students. Her heart is truly centered around doing what is best for students.”

“Education has always been a focus in my life and for my family. As a young girl, my Dad’s favorite and most asked question was, ‘How are your grades?’ I learned at a young age the benefit of having an education,” stated Amy. “It is this background that has fueled my desire to see quality education opportunities for all students. I believe that all students deserve to feel safe and valued and be given the opportunity to learn in the ways that they learn best.”

Some rich experiences have blessed Mrs. Darrington’s life including traveling to China to teach English, building homes in Mexico for Builders Without Borders, and volunteering for the Miss Spanish Fork and the Miss Payson pageants.

One of Amy’s motto’s is “A day without laughter is a day wasted.” She said, “I have been mentored by the very best people my entire career. We have learned together and had fun doing it. I would never have seen the potential in myself if others hadn't pointed it out, and for that I will be forever grateful.”

Mrs. Darrington exclaimed, “I am thrilled to have this opportunity and look forward to becoming a CROC4LIFE!”

Amy is married to Max; and they have four children. She enjoys camping and hiking in the mountains, traveling and experiencing different cultures, reading, shopping, and relaxing with family.
