On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, Nebo School District gathered to celebrate a monumental milestone: the retirement of 75 dedicated employees. This year’s cohort represents a combined 1,753 years of service to the students and families of our community.
The retirement luncheon, held at 12:00 pm, provided an opportunity for administration, board members, and colleagues to express their profound gratitude. The program included:
Welcome & Invocation: Director of Human Resources Mike Larsen welcomed attendees, followed by an invocation from Assistant Superintendent Ben Ford.
Musical Tribute: Guests enjoyed a special performance by the Salem Hills High School Singers, directed by Justin Bills and accompanied by Aubree Petersen.
Messages of Gratitude: Board member Scott Wilson and Superintendent Rick Nielsen shared messages of appreciation, emphasizing the lasting impact these individuals have had on the district.
The program featured emotional tributes from representatives of both certified and classified staff. Phyllis Peterson, a teacher at Mt. Loafer Elementary, offered the Certified Employee’s Tribute, while Kim Head, secretary at Larsen Elementary, gave the Classified Employee’s Tribute.
Each retiree was personally presented by Human Resources Coordinators Troy Bohling and Kacie Bosone and received a commemorative clock from the Board of Education as a symbol of their time and dedication.
The sheer volume of experience leaving the district this year is a testament to the stability and passion of Nebo’s workforce:
Certified Employees: 43 retirees with a total of 1,024 years in Nebo.
Classified Employees: 32 retirees with a total of 729 years in Nebo.
Among the retirees are long-serving pillars of the district, including Bart Peery (Director of Secondary Education) with 41 years of service, and Bryan Gillies (Teacher at Mapleton Jr. High) with 38 years.
The 2026 Retirement Book was filled with personal reflections from the retirees, many of whom noted that while they are excited for "new adventures" and "grandma time," they will deeply miss the "lightbulb moments" and the "village" of colleagues that defined their careers.
We wish all of our 2026 retirees a wonderful and relaxing retirement. Thank you for making Nebo School District your "work home" for so many years.
