At Landmark High School, Principal Jason Beardall leads with a guiding question:

“What about Landmark makes us alternative?”

Under his leadership, that question transformed from philosophy into action.

This year marked a major milestone with the opening of a 20-classroom addition,

expanding both capacity and opportunity for students in Nebo School District.

With this, Jason intentionally worked to bring all Residential Treatment Center (RTC)

programs within Nebo School District boundaries including Magellan, Healing Home,

and DSI into the Landmark building. By integrating these programs on campus, he

strengthened instructional alignment and ensured that all students receive consistent,

high-quality instruction within one unified system.

Recognizing that many Landmark students thrive with hands-on learning, Jason

pursued YIC grant funding to bring nine career-training simulators into the school.

These simulators allow students to safely learn how to drive and operate machinery,

providing real-world workforce skills and expanding post-secondary options.

At the core of Jason’s leadership is a balance of high accountability and high support.

He has strengthened attendance systems and clarified expectations, helping students

understand that consistency matters. At the same time, programs like the GAP (Goal

Achievement Program) provide structured pathways for credit recovery and academic

intervention so students can regain momentum rather than fall behind permanently.

One of the most visible reflections of his student-centered vision is The Landing, a

unified space that brings together Nebo School District student and family supports in a

welcoming, accessible environment. The Landing embodies Landmark’s philosophy:

students are met with dignity, resources, and opportunity.

Jason continually challenges his staff to rethink what alternative education should look

like—not as a last resort, but as an intentional design built around opportunity, structure,

and belonging.

Under his leadership, “alternative” at Landmark does not mean less. It means

more support, more innovation, and more pathways to success for every student.
