Melissa Anderson

The Nebo School Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Melissa Anderson as the Principal of Spanish Oaks Elementary, effective July 1, 2026.

Ms. Anderson is a proud graduate of Brigham Young University, where she earned both her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. Her deep academic roots reflect her lifelong commitment to the art of teaching and the science of school leadership.

Melissa brings 15 years of dedicated service within the Nebo School District to her new role as Principal. Her career has been defined by consistency, professionalism, and a drive to help students excel:

  • In the Classroom: Began her teaching career at Westside Elementary in the third grade, followed by eight years of impactful teaching at Maple Ridge Elementary.

  • School Leadership: For the past three years, Melissa has been a vital part of the administrative team at Spring Lake Elementary, serving as the school Facilitator.

Melissa’s ability to bring subjects to life for her students was recognized on a state level in 2016 when she was named the Utah Council for the Social Studies Elementary Teacher of the Year.

Colleagues frequently look to Melissa for her level-headed approach and creative problem-solving skills. One colleague shared:

“Melissa is a model of lifelong learning who tackles problems efficiently and effectively. Whether with staff, students, or parents, Melissa is always positive, professional, and consistent—even in the most difficult situations. Her opinion is often sought out because of her clever nature and reliable wisdom.”

When she isn't leading a school community, Melissa finds joy in the outdoors and the simple pleasures of life. She loves to travel, bike, and garden. Above all, she cherishes the time she spends with her friends and family.

Melissa is deeply inspired by the late educator Rita Pierson and carries this mission into her new role at Spanish Oaks:

“Every child deserves a champion—an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.”
