JR Brandon

The Nebo School Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of JR Brandon as the Assistant Principal of Spanish Fork High School, effective July 1, 2026.

Mr. Brandon has a distinguished academic background, starting with his Bachelor’s Degree from Utah Valley University. He went on to earn a Master’s Degree in School Counseling from the University of West Alabama and recently reached the pinnacle of his educational journey by earning a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands.

In December 2023, he successfully defended his dissertation, which focused on the critical topics of Teacher Retention and Job Satisfaction.

With 13 years of dedicated service within the Nebo School District, JR brings a wide lens of experience to Spanish Fork High. His career is marked by a steady progression through various vital roles:

  • Support & Special Education: Served as a Special Education Technician at Spanish Fork Junior and Salem Junior High before teaching Special Education at both Salem Junior and Spanish Fork High.

  • Student Advocacy: Spent two years as a School Counselor at Salem Hills High School, focusing on the social and emotional success of students.

  • Administrative Leadership: Most recently, he has been a pillar of the leadership team at Mapleton Junior High, serving two years as Dean of Students and the last three years as Assistant Principal.

Known for his ability to lead with both strength and empathy, Dr. Brandon is highly regarded by those he works alongside. A colleague shared:

"JR is a very dedicated administrator. He has the ability to take charge of situations while making his colleagues feel valued and important. His leadership style is one of caring and compassion."

JR is married to Erin, and they are the proud parents of three children: Luke, Carson, and Judd. An avid outdoorsman, he loves camping, hiking, and exploring the mountains. As a major sports fan—specifically college football and volleyball—he has transitioned from his own days on the field to his favorite role: coaching his children's teams and cheering them on from the sidelines.

JR draws inspiration from the legendary Coach Nick Saban, a quote that reflects his disciplined approach to education and leadership:

"There are two pains in life: the pain of discipline and the pain of disappointment. If you can handle the pain of discipline, then you’ll never have to deal with the pain of disappointment."
