The Nebo School Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Sara Matis as the Principal of Orchard Hills Elementary, effective July 1, 2026.
Sara brings 30 years of distinguished service within the Nebo School District to this new role. A seasoned administrator and a champion for both students and staff, Ms. Matis has spent three decades shaping the educational landscape of our community.
Sara’s journey began at Spanish Fork Middle School, followed by impactful work as a Teacher on Special Assignment. Her leadership path has been defined by over a decade of success as a Principal:
Principal: Park View Elementary
Principal: Westside Elementary
Principal: Maple Ridge Elementary (11 years)
Ms. Matis holds both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Brigham Young University. Throughout her career, her leadership has been recognized at the highest levels:

Colleagues frequently point to Sara’s ability to build strong school cultures and her dedication to supporting her staff.

Beyond her professional achievements, Sara is supported by her husband, Bill, their two children, and their daughter-in-law. When she isn't leading a school, she loves to travel, lose herself in a good book, and cherish quality time with her family.
Sara is inspired by the iconic words, "I believe the children are the future." Reflecting on her career and this new appointment, she shared:
"I love the impact we make every day to ensure our schools are the very best they can be—not just for our students, but for the adults who work their guts out for them. I have been blessed and honored to be mentored by so many wonderful individuals in this District."
