The Nebo School Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Emily Hiatt as the Civil Rights Coordinator, effective July 1, 2026.
Mrs. Hiatt’s career is built on a strong academic foundation from Brigham Young University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences Education. Fueling her passion for school-wide impact, she returned to BYU to complete her Master of Education in Educational Leadership.
Emily brings 12 years of diverse educational expertise to this district-level role, including nine years of dedicated service within the Nebo School District.
Early Career: Spent three years teaching science at Providence Hall Charter School.
The Landmark Years: Served five years at Landmark High School, where her impact on students and faculty earned her the prestigious Teacher of the Year award in 2021.
Administrative Growth: Transitioned into leadership as the Dean of Students at Salem Junior High, where she has served with distinction as Assistant Principal for the last three years.
A highly respected educator and administrator, Emily is known for her ability to navigate complex situations with empathy. A colleague shared: “Emily Hiatt brings many strengths to her new position at the district office. Emily has always been willing to tackle whatever challenges come her way and to do so with complete professionalism. She is known for the thorough manner in which she approaches all aspects of her job. She is most dependable and always follows up. She’s not afraid to have hard conversations with both parents and students when needed. At the same time Emily is very fair and always strives to build connective relationships with the students she works with. She is also extremely knowledgeable and sharp when it comes to anything education-related. And it’s these many talents and more that make Emily Hiatt a tremendous addition to the district office and her new position.”
Emily is married to Spencer, and they are the proud parents of three children. Currently embracing "full mom mode," Emily spends the majority of her time outside of work playing with and caring for her kids. In her rare moments of solitude, she finds balance through swimming, reading, cooking, and exploring the great outdoors.
Emily’s approach to education is guided by a personal motto that aligns perfectly with her new role: "Children are the key to a successful future; If we fail them, we fail ourselves. Every student deserves the chance to learn, make mistakes, and grow as individuals.”
