Today marked a wonderful culmination of community effort and student engagement as the Nebo School District hosted its Volunteer for Good Fall Site Visit 2025. The event, held at Payson High School, brought together district leaders, state officials, students, and community partners to celebrate and reflect on the impactful volunteer initiatives across the district.
The morning kickoff in the auditorium saw a gathering of 450-600 seniors, along with district and state representatives. Students were introduced to the Volunteer for Good program, learning about ongoing incentives, volunteer opportunities, and the new VFG scholarship. Lt. Governor Deidre Henderson delivered a message about the importance of service, encouraging students to continue making a positive difference in their schools and communities. Representatives from various student organizations showcased upcoming service events, motivating peers to get involved. A quick refresher on logging volunteer hours on the Golden Dashboard helped students stay engaged and organized.
Following the assembly, the leadership panel convened. Nebo District welcomed attendees before a fantastic discussion on the program's progress and benefits. The Lt. Governor shared insights from her experience with the VFG initiative, emphasizing how districts across Utah are seeing tangible benefits through increased student involvement. District leaders, including RaShel Shepherd, reviewed recent data highlighting the program’s success, total participants, completed opportunities, volunteer hours, and the overall value of student service.
The final part of the event was a smaller, more personal discussion with student representatives from all six high schools within Nebo District. These students shared stories about their volunteer experiences and reflected on how VFG has positively impacted their schools, fostering leadership, responsibility, and a sense of community.
The event wrapped up with a lively Q&A session with the Lt. Governor, allowing students and educators to ask questions and share ideas for future growth.
