We are excited to highlight some of our high school interns, Sion Martin from Payson High School, Hallie Nuttall from Maple Mountain High School, Lilly Norman and Kaiya Reynolds both from Spanish Fork High School, who are participating in an internship this semester with Central Utah 911.
Students are learning how to manage both emergency and non-emergency calls while building key dispatcher skills, including 10-codes, jurisdiction codes, mapping, phonetic alphabet, and military time. Their experience includes classroom instruction, scenario-based learning, simulations, and ride-alongs on the dispatch floor, as well as with police, fire, and EMS.
By the end of the course, eligible students may pursue POST Dispatcher certification, Emergency Medical Dispatch certification, and even full-time opportunities within the center.
This program is helping students build confidence, technical knowledge, and a deeper understanding of public safety careers.
