We are so happy for Kristel Peterson on her upcoming retirement! We are going to miss Kristel here at Brockbank but wish her the best!
Mrs. Peterson remarks on her retirement;
"I've often thought teaching is a lot like riding the longest, wildest roller coaster in the park. There are slow climbs that test your patience, sudden drops you never see coming, and moments that take your breath away. Some days you hold on tight, and other days you throw your hands up and laugh through the chaos. But after 30 years, I can honestly say I've truly loved the ride. And more than anything, it was my students who made it unforgettable--each one adding their own twist of energy, and joy to the journey. Hundreds of students 1st-6th grade, pre-service teachers, and in-service teachers from one end of the state to the other, and I have learned that they will always keep you on your toes and humble.
So many moments and memories have made a permanent home in my heart; my 5th and 6th grade debate students taking the state competition by storm, leaving the big schools questioning "Brockbank? Where is that? What district are they from?", the love, compassion, and support students showed to each other as they experienced loss and hard things in their lives, and so many smiles that brightened my day.
Somewhere along the way, I found the love of my life, made friendships that I treasure, and have been lucky enough to be surrounded by people who made the hard days lighter. I will forever be grateful to Nebo District, the Brockbank community of amazing families and students who weren't just along for the ride...they were the reason it was so meaningful."
