The Spanish Fork Rotary and Businesses Provide for Nebo Students

Spanish Fork Rotary is continually focusing their efforts on all year long on how to help the community and Nebo students. For five years in a row, Rotary and several generous businesses provided “much needed” items for students through the Nebo Dragon Pantry.

The Nebo Dragon Pantry is a program based at Landmark High School at 612 South Main Street in Spanish Fork. Its purpose is to collect food, clothes, coats, hygienic and supplies to give to students and their families across the school district. The Dragon Pantry was started by Monica Hullinger in 2014. Monica works in student services as a social worker and has been employed with Nebo for about 17 years. She is passionate about the pantry and students in need.

“It’s a great opportunity for our students at Landmark to get involved. The students organize and prepare the items that come to the pantry through generous donors,” Monica Hullinger explained.

Luke Marvin, current President of the Spanish Fork Rotary said, “Instead of holding our annual Christmas party, our club members unanimously voted to use those funds to provide over 300 meal kits for the pantry this year. It was wonderful working shoulder to shoulder with students to provide these meal kits.”

Nebo Education Foundation Executive Director, Lana Hiskey, said, “It’s simply amazing to see so many donations coming in. People may not recognize that our students across the entire district have needs like hygiene supplies including toothpaste, toothbrushes . . . things that most of us take for granted. We are grateful for Spanish Fork Rotary, various businesses and Nebo employees for their efforts in giving back to our community.”

Continue to keep the Dragon Pantry in mind all year long if you or your business would like to give to those in need.
