The Nebo Native American Indian program, directed by Eileen Quintana, presented at the Nebo School District Board Meeting. The evening was a celebration of the successes this amazing program is having with rising test scores and with college and career ready students.

Some of the Camp Eagle activities celebrated included Native American music, sand painting, Fancy Dancing, the Grass Dance, digital storytelling, and traditional Native American games. Students that participated in the Camp Eagle program learned more about their native ancestry such as the Navajo, Ute, and Sioux tribes to name a few.

The Camp Eagle participants created and edited videos that explained the differences in their culture from the past. Some of those differences were gathering food and harvesting berries, Pow Wows, technology, and respect and values.

This week the Nebo Native Americans will be presenting their digital storytelling at the Governor’s Native American Summit.
