Submitted by lana.hiskey on

The State Energy Program and Governor Herbert recognized Nebo School District for participating in an energy management program to benchmark buildings. Nebo School District as been busy this past year reporting utility information and upgrades on each of the older schools and buildings as well as the new construction. The reporting was made possible through a partnership between the Utah State Government and the Cadmus Group.

Utah Building Energy Efficiency Strategies (UBEES) promotes energy efficiency through benchmarking, tracking progress, incorporating upgrades and improvements, identifying and sharing best practices, and recognizing achievement. Nebo District and two other school districts along with five businesses were recognized for taking the first steps in cutting utility costs and improving energy efficiency.

Matt Gledhill, Nebo District’s Operations Coordinator, said, "A year ago at the Utah Facilities Operation & Maintenance Association (UFOMA) conference, we became aware of the State of Utah’s partnership with the Cadmus Group. It was all of the efforts of Nebo School District’s maintenance department and new construction to improve our schools that provided this opportunity to qualify for an Energy Star Rating."

Nebo District will continue to become better aware of energy consumption and the variety of programs available to reduce energy and operating expenditure.
