Rich Osguthorpe honoring Mike Larsen

Mike Larsen, Special Education and Federal Programs Director for Nebo School District, received the Brigham Young University's (BYU) Benjamin Cluff Jr. Award for Excellence in Education. Benjamin Cluff was the first president of BYU.

Dean Rich Osguthorpe bestowed the prestigious award on behalf of BYU's McKay School of Education.  The award was given for the tremendous impact that Mr. Larsen has had in supporting BYU’s School of Education in Nebo School District. Many guests attended the event including superintendents from various school districts, BYU faculty and staff, as well as Dr. Megan Tschannen-Moran, Professor of Educational Leadership at William & Mary School of Education.

When asked about the honor of being selected for this prestigious award, Mike replied, “I consider myself fortunate to be part of a school district that partners with Brigham Young University. When someone asks about BYU, many might first think about sports, tasty ice cream, ranch dressing, or Tuesday devotionals; but not me. I think about the David O. McKay School of Education, and the blessing it is to so many, including me. I have been privileged to associate with the most remarkable people from the School of Education since I first attended BYU as a graduate student in 2003. I am humbled by this honor. I express my appreciation to Rich Osguthorpe and his talented team for their continued support for me as an educator of Nebo School District over the many years. Thank you for the opportunity I have enjoyed to serve alongside them in this most wonderful world of education.”

Congratulations Mike Larsen. We are proud of you for representing Nebo School District. Thank you for being a Nebo Hero!
