February 2022 Nebo PEAK Award Winners

THE PEAK AWARD CUSTOMER SERVICE PROGRAM
Nebo School District wants to showcase our Positive Energy and Kind employees. PEAK Awards are nominated by patrons and recognized by the Superintendent Staff and Nebo School Board of Education. The award is administered by the Communications and Community Relations Department.

Adena Campbell, Teacher, Spanish Fork High
Nominated by: Deon Youd

“Every student at Spanish Fork High School has a place in Mrs. Campbell's classroom. A few years ago, Adena recognized a need among many in our student body: the students needed extra help navigating the challenges of their lives and dealing with mental health concerns. Adena took action. She proposed a class called general wellness where students who needed extra support could find a safe haven and learn coping strategies. Using her expertise in psychology education, Mrs. Campbell developed a curriculum that addresses real needs in our students. Now in its second year, the program is going strong. Mrs. Campbell reaches her students where they are and offers them mentorship and love. The students learn to support each other and find ways of dealing with emotions in a way that keeps them safe in our increasingly demanding world. Perhaps most importantly, though, when Adena knows one of her students is in trouble, she doesn't rest until they get help. She is on the frontlines with these students, and she takes that responsibility seriously. If she hears of a suicidal student, she springs into action, calling parents and other reinforcements to get the student out of harm's way. Adena would probably say that she doesn't deserve the credit, that she is just trying to help our students. However, without her foresight and her follow through, these students wouldn't have a place to go. Adena Campbell threw open her classroom doors to them, and she is literally saving lives at Spanish Fork High School.”

Troy Hymer, Special Education Counselor, Mt. Nebo Middle & Wilson
Nominated by: Alice Wilson, Jodi Terry, Larraine Nelson, Melissa Jorgensen

“He exemplifies positive energy and kindness. He always has a smile and hello for everyone. He takes the time to learn every faculty member’s name along with as many students as possible. He participates in the activities at each school where he works. He dressed in his ‘Halloween Suit’ at Mt. Nebo Middle. Then he dressed as the school mascot at Wilson Elementary during their carnival. I appreciate his willingness to listen to all the people he comes in contact with; and his willingness to help everyone, not just those he is assigned to help. It shows that he truly cares about people in the way he interacts with everyone.” ~Alice Wilson

“Mr. Hymer always goes well above and beyond what is asked of him.  He is always willing to help where needed and is a great listener.  He thinks outside the box and always wants what is best for the students and teachers. He is loved by students and in return he loves them even more.  He is full of energy and is always positive and looking for the good in others.  We LOVE Mr. Hymer at Wilson!!!” ~Jodi Terry

Brittany Lundell, Teacher, Mapleton Junior
Nominated by: Nickie Carter

“From her very first day, Brittany has ALWAYS put others first. She is continually seeking to improve her classroom to benefit the lives of her students. Brittany works well beyond the clock and sacrifices much of her personal time and resources to improve even the smallest things. She does research and uses that research to pass on to parents who can't help but feel her love for their child. There have been innumerable times that she completely and willingly offers, and most of the time insists, to help other teachers in their classrooms. She steps in to sub a class here and there. She stays late to boost up another teacher or student. Brittany is always optimistic and always sees the bright side of any situation. She is truly the ultimate example of devotion, dedication, and love of her students, technicians, and everyone she comes in contact with. You just can't help but smile, and most of the time laugh a little when you leave her room. She is one that truly loves her job and will continue to do what she does best, which is make others feel special and needed. She is an inspiration to so many!”

Todd Moake, Campus Supervisor, Landmark High
Nominated by: Kelly Cole Taylor

“Todd goes above and beyond the job of campus supervisor! Not only does he do a great job with our campus security, he supports Landmark's policies by collecting cell phones to help students stay on task in class. He has helped with the installation of water fountains and hand sanitizing stations during COVID along with many other necessary installations. Todd works with faculty and students in a way that lets them know he cares. I wouldn't want to be at Landmark without Todd Moake.”

Jeannie Olsen, Vision Specialist, District Wide
Nominated by: Patti Erickson

“Jeannie serves many visually impaired students district wide. She personally makes sure that each student she serves has set appropriate IEP goals and that the services and accommodations are being carried out in an appropriate manner. She goes the extra mile to ensure parents are involved in the IEP process and feel heard and validated. Jeannie will make extra efforts at each school to make sure the IEP team feels supported and knowledgeable about best practices. She has personally trained and helped many technicians understand the best way to work with an individual student. She always looks at the individual student's unique needs, and makes sure the IEP is indeed individualized for that student. She consistently shows that kind of personalized attention to every student. She is a consummate professional, and a supportive member on any IEP team she serves.”

Brad Northcutt, Teacher, Springville High
Nominated by: Lori Caras, Tona Graff, & Shaun Blakely
“Brad is exceptional in every aspect of his job. If we need anything, he is ready and willing to help. There is not a time when he's been unavailable. When we send an email, he responds quickly. He checks in with teachers on a regular basis to make sure that we have everything we need to teach. He works hard to get students signed up for the AP tests and to enroll students in the Concurrent Enrollment classes we offer. Brad always has a smile and kind words. He works hard with teachers as well as our students.”

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
