Nebo District Finals Weight Lifting Competition 2009-2010

Submitted by ts on

Nebo School District held their Finals District Junior High Weight Lifting Competition this past week. The competition included junior high students in the seventh through ninth grades and was held at Mt. Nebo Junior High School (MNJHS) in Payson.

Lynn Harmer said, “This competition is another opportunity for students to excel in a sport that is so individualistic. Each participant has to work out on their own schedule without a lot of coaching. They have to have their own desire to push themselves and become better and stronger. Each category demonstrates strength, speed, and endurance. I’m amazed how the students root each other on even though the competitor is not from their own school.”

For the final district competition the competition categories were military press, bench press, pull ups, medicine ball, vertical leap, pushups, sit ups, and a shuttle run.
