Payson High Exposes Students to 51 Careers - Answer to Wednesday Challenge

Submitted by lana.hiskey on

Payson High School (PHS) hosted 51 professional career specialists on December 17. Many of these professions are in need of quality employees and have a special connection back to PHS. The connection may include graduating from PHS, a parent of a PHS student, or have a profession in the area.

Some of the presenters were heard saying how cool and surreal it was to be back at the school, and wished they had experienced this type of relevant education. Those businesses that were represented include: healthcare, engineering, technology, communication, animation, broadcasting, business, government, plus many more.

The students were a buzz of excitement and mentioned how amazed they were at the many different careers that they had never heard of. The students enjoyed getting to know what it really takes to land a lucrative job. Now, many of the students know what classes will help them further their studies in areas they are interested in being employed. Students took advantage of connecting with various professionals and have already lined up internships.

“My goal was for the students to see that school is relevant as professionals explained what was involved in the profession and how they can benefit today from where they are and what they are doing,” stated Brian Blake, one of the organizers of the event.

The PHS Career Fair was a huge success! Payson High administration as well as Nebo School District appreciates all the time and effort it took from staff, professionals, and community members that donated their time to provide quality information for our students to be successful in a career and in life.  Thank you for being Nebo Heroes!

Congratulations to Zulma Farnworth for answering this week’s “Where are we Wednesday?” sponsored by Wiggy Wash.
