The Nebo Education Foundation gives gifts in the form of grants to various Nebo teachers across the district.

Congratulations to the following teachers that continue to bless the lives of students.

Canyon Elementary – Danika Nuttall
“WOW! Thank you, thank you, thank you to all those who volunteer on the Nebo Foundation and approved my grant. I am over the moon with your kindness and appreciate your willingness to make education and the future brighter for the students in our community!” exclaimed Danika Nuttall, third-grade teacher at Canyon Elementary. “My class is so excited for our new headphones to arrive. These headphones will be used daily and will assist in the technology aspect we are implementing/integrating into our learning throughout the day. This gift will make our lives a lot easier as we won't have to worry about broken headphones, missing ear pieces, splitting wires, etc. I am excited to start the new year, 2020, off with headphones that will help my students want to learn and do a better job as we work on the Chromebooks. Again, I can not thank you enough for caring about education and the future generation!”

Brookside Elementary – Brynlee Pickering
“I cannot express how grateful I am for the Nebo Education Foundation and their grant to my classroom. A hundred dollars may not seem like much to some, but in the classroom, it is tremendous! With the grant money from the foundation, our class will be able to have a variety of seating options during literacy centers. This is huge! You'd be surprised at the impact of something new in the classroom and how motivating it can be to students. It wasn't until our one and only bean bag fell apart that we realized just how important another seating option really was. The kids in my class are through the moon and stars about this donation! I cannot wait to see the excitement on their faces, and how hard they'll work, when they get to use these new and improved seats. Thank you again to the Nebo Education Foundation! It means the world! You made 17 first-graders and one teacher very happy today! Thank you!” exclaimed Brynlee Pickering, first-grade teacher at Brookside Elementary.

Springville Junior – Christene Edenfield
Christene Edenfield, English teacher at Springville Junior, said, “Thank you to the Nebo Foundation for supporting this grant. This money will be used to purchase two sets of graphic novel libraries. One of my main goals as an English teacher is to help my students develop a love of reading. One of the ways that I do this is by introducing them to a variety of books. I know my students are going to be so excited about all of the new graphic novels. They are my most requested type of book. Graphic novels are an important part of any library because they are high-interest, and they are accessible to all students. My hope is that by giving students access to a large selection of graphic novels, it will spark a love of reading in my students who are reluctant readers. It is my belief that there is a book out there for everyone and this addition to my library will help more students find theirs. Thank you again for this generous donation, it is so appreciated!”

Spanish Fork High – Sharla Barber
“Thank you so much for helping me with the grant! I am so excited to get going on it. The grant that was awarded to us is going to help create a space at Spanish Fork High School for students to be able to calm and focus themselves so they can be better prepared for learning and interacting with others. The money that was provided to us will be used to fill the room with sensory objects such as weighted blankets, glitter tubes, sequin pillows, and coloring books.  Students in crisis will be able to enter the calming room and will be given time to re-set, breathe, and prepare to go back to class in a healthier state than when they left. We are super excited to get to work on this space and appreciate so much the help that has been given to us to make it a reality for our students!” exclaimed Sharla Barber, counselor at Spanish Fork High.

Brookside Elementary – Miranda Graves
Miranda Graves, third-grade teacher at Brookside Elementary, said, “It was a very Merry Christmas for Mrs. Graves' third-grade class this morning! They were visited by Nebo Foundation who has generously donated  funding for a class set of handbells. These handbells are currently being used in conjunction with the BYU Arts Bridge Professional, Mr. Summit, as third-graders prepare for a handbell concert. This concert will be performed for parents and the school. Music and the arts increase student focus, deepen learning, increase listening, build problem solving, encourage cooperation, and so much more. Thank you, Nebo Foundation and BYU Arts Bridge Program, for providing funding and the chance for students to excel in life with music and the arts through the use of these handbells. We are forever grateful!”

Springville High – Leslie Walker
“Thank you so much for the Nebo Education Foundation Grant!  With the grant money, we will be able to purchase full scores of Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms for our Concert Choir.  These scores are expensive, and frankly, beyond our budget.  This year, we have such talented singers that we will be able to rehearse and perform  this oratorio--one of greatest oratorios of the 20th century.  And, because of the Nebo Education Foundation grant , we will have these scores for years to come to use for future generations of fine singers,” stated Leslie Walker, choir teacher at Springville High.

Rees – Jill Darrington
Jill Darrington, second-grade teacher at Rees Elementary, said, “I'm so excited to have received the grant from the Nebo Education Foundation. With this grant I will be able to purchase guided reading books that are specifically designed for small group instruction. Theses books will be used by our second-grade team as well as being available for all teachers to use. I am so grateful to all of those individuals and companies who have donated time and money. Their generosity will benefit the students at Rees Elementary for years to come. Thank-you for helping the next generation have a love of reading.”

Spanish Oaks – Elizabeth Young
“Thank you for awarding this grant!  I was so excited to receive it, I got on the computer five minutes later and ordered every book that was on my wish list!  This grant money will be used to purchase SKILL-3 and Story Champs Blitz, which are instructional programs designed to improve critical language skills by targeting story structure and complex language features.  I will also be purchasing an Expanding Expression Tool Kit which helps to build oral and written language skills, and 22 storybooks that will be used in language and articulation lessons for my students in Kindergarten through 6th grade.  These materials will benefit all of my current students and many others in years to come.  I sincerely appreciate the Nebo Education Foundation's support for the Speech and Language program at Spanish Oaks Elementary,” Elizabeth Young, speech specialist at Spanish Oaks Elementary."
