THE PEAK AWARD CUSTOMER SERVICE PROGRAM
Nebo School District wants to showcase our Positive Energy and Kind employees. PEAK Awards are nominated by patrons and recognized by the Superintendent Staff and Nebo School Board of Education. The award is administered by the Communications and Community Relations Department.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This initiative is designed to focus on "raising the bar" on providing exceptional customer service, both internally and externally. A key component of this initiative is the development of the PEAK Award. The PEAK (Positive Energy and Kindness) Award is presented monthly to someone in the Nebo School District who "really gets it" when it comes to providing exceptional customer service, which in turn results in positive impacts on everyone including students, parents, co-workers and members of the community.

Who Gets Nominated?
Faculty and staff members are nominated by anyone in the community through the Nebo School District website, www.nebo.edu/PEAK wherein a special Customer Service link is provided. The directions as to how to nominate an employee for the PEAK Awards are clearly spelled out on the site. All nominations must include information on how the individual has provided exceptional customer service, as well as how the employee's actions impacted the nominator's overall perception of Nebo School District Schools. The name and contact information of the nominator must be included.

June 2015 PEAK Award Winners:

Glenn Holmes, Supervisor, Instructional Media Center
Nominated by: Many employees of Nebo School District
“Glenn has a friendly demeanor and fun sense of humor that makes every person feel comfortable when they walk into the IMC. He is always willing to help everyone. He has impeccable customer service skills and makes sure each customer gets the quality product that they deserve. He is an exquisite example of professionalism and hard work. Glenn is very creative and wise when solving the many problems that come his way. Many of us could not do our jobs without his help. Glenn is an amazing listener and knows how to keep things confidential. He is kind, loyal, compassionate, smart, funny, and calm. Glenn is truly a remarkable person.”

Holly Beckstrom, Secretary, Instructional Media Center
Nominated by: Carol Barker
“I appreciate EVERYONE in the IMC department! They work so hard this time of year for every school and department in the district. They all keep smiling, even with breakdowns. Recently, Student Services had a big printing project that required some special handling. Holly took care of things, with a smile. Then Murphy's Law hit... the machine printing posters broke down, and the recently purchased machine was not working despite all the efforts of everyone. Holly not only called apologetically, but she and Glenn had already thought of a temporary ‘fix’ so that the information could still go out to the schools on time. It would have been so easy to say, ‘Sorry, the machine is broken. We'll get to it when we can.” They didn’t. They all work so many long, hard hours. We just want them to know how much we all appreciate each one of them!!”

Deborah Squires, Transportation
Nominated by: JoEdan Parker
“Debra drives special needs students for Salem Junior. Some of the students have very challenging behaviors. One particular student has really struggled this year in being successful in riding the bus. Many plans and ideas have been tried, some successful and some not as well. Deborah has created a reward box for students to earn a chance to get a prize after they earn so many points for positive behavior. She has turned her bus into the Millennium Falcon (from Star Wars). Deborah even found Star Wars patches to help this student be successful. I am completely convinced that this student’s success is due to Deborah and the fact that she ‘pays attention to the details’. Deborah makes ‘the little wows add up’. She also drives our special needs class on field trips. I have felt her positive energy on many occasions.”

Lynn Mecham, Assistant Principal, Springville High
Nominated by: Dave McKee
“SFHS was in desperate need of a bus driver to drive the state championship softball team from West Valley back to SFHS after their championship game. There was absolutely NO bus drivers available, so who comes to the rescue?  Lynn Mecham!  An assistant principal from our rival, Springville High School.  How many times in life do we see something like that?  I can venture to say, none!  That's why Lynn Mecham is one in a million–a ‘Rock Solid Stud Muffin!’”

Cathy Gleason, Skills Coach, Hobble Creek Elementary
Nominated by: Liz Porter
“Cathy is always kind and helpful. She has a kind way of speaking to the students and faculty. She has worked at Hobble Creek for 11 years and continues to enjoy her job and works hard. She also runs Red Ribbon week, and puts a lot of effort and fun into the drug-free program. It is truly a blessing that Nebo still has a skills room in most schools. The skills lab is invaluable in helping teachers better deal with behavioral issues and a quiet place to get work done. The students are rewarded with a wonderful adult, Cathy, in their lives that cares about them and really works with them to be better and work harder in school.”

Sharla Barber, Counselor, Spanish Fork High
Nominated by: Amy Darrington
“Sharla has been an amazing help to my daughter and I. She has spent hours facilitating needed meetings, walking us through class options, and making sure Sarah is on track to graduate. Not only has she focused on Sarah's needs at school, she has been helpful with personal situations too. Some might say this is her job, but actually Sharla isn't even the counselor assigned to Sarah. She has gone above and beyond, and we appreciate her professionalism and kindness. It's just another example to me that Nebo District values people, especially students.”

Gina Warren, Staff Developer, Wilson Elementary
Nominated by: Annette Draper
“This lady is so wonderful. She takes care of everyone and everything in the school. As a Title I coordinator and staff developer, she coordinates teacher planning time and helps the principal with all kind of things. Gina is an example to all who works with her including those at our school and with all the Title I employees in the district. When I first started in the district as a Title I technician, she was my mentor and leader. I'll always hold the highest respect for Gina Warren. When serving on several PTA Boards with Gina as a teacher advisor, I knew our school was in good hands.”
