1.      Negotiations were approved by the Board of Education in their Regular Board Meeting on June 12, 2013. Thanks to the certified and classified employees who represent their colleagues in these important meetings.

2.     The state WPU increase was 2% but most districts, including Nebo, will not see an increase on the salary schedule. Why? More than half of this increase went to retirement increases ($900,000) and the rest paid for steps/lanes ($700,000).

3.     Every employee on Step 2 or higher, whose longevity step does not result in a salary increase, will receive a 3% one-time bonus in their November 30 paycheck. This will be implemented the same as this past year.

4.     Sadly, insurance costs continue to rise and benefits continue to decline. Employees will pay more in premiums next year, for a plan that is not quite as good as it was this past year. We all need to work together to be wise insurance users and try to keep costs in check.

5.     We are changing the name of the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) to Consumer Driven Health Plan (CDHP). We found that saying “high deductible” was confusing to many people and scared them away from enrolling in this plan, which is a great plan for most employees.

6.     We understand that many classified employees did not receive the document distributed in May in response to questions about the Affordable Care Act, Retirement, and PTO. We are sorry this information was not communicated more effectively.
