Assistive Technology Utah Augmentative, Alternative, Assistive, Communication and Technology Teams (UAAACT) The Utah Augmentative, Alternative, Assistive, Communication and Technology (UAAACT) Teams serve as a resource for assessment and development of communication and technology systems for students who are non speaking or severely limited in their quality of speech or written language. UAAACT Teams have been established for the purpose of assessing student communication needs and for providing consultation to IEP teams for ongoing programming. They do not provide direct services or therapy. When a student receives an assistive technology assessment from a UAAACT team, the UAAACT team will provide the IEP team with the results of the assessment. However, the decision about what assistive technology devices and services a student requires and how they are included in the IEP is the responsibility of the IEP team.
