Goalview Tutorials: How to do an annual IEP (Second year using Goalview).

Click here for a Power Point version that you can print or save on your computer.

The students used in these tutorial situations are fictional. The highest possible care has been taken to maintain the confidentiality of actual students on Goalview.

When it comes time to do an annual IEP for a student that you did on Goalview last year first go into Goalview, Select IEP, and find the student. What you are looking at will not be the actual IEP but an IEP worksheet.
A paper copy of the IEP should be in the student's folder. If you did a PDF Final Print last year there will be an electronic copy saved on the Goalview Database. To find it open the View Menu and select Print.
Open the Print Menu in this print window and you will see all of the IEPs that have been saved on the database. Select the IEP that you want to view.
This is the actual IEP from last year and it will continue to be available here.
As you look at the IEP Worksheet you will see the data that you entered last year. If the student advanced grade levels the new grade should be there.
To edit this IEP Worksheet for the new IEP go the the Edit Menu and select Edit Form.
You can now change the old data and enter the new.
Section 1. Student Information. Change the IEP Meeting date.
Change the IEP Due date to one year from the new IEP Meeting date or sooner if you are planning to reconvene the IEP team sooner than one year.
Make sure the IEP Meeting and IEP Due dates are correct and you can change Classification if needed.
Add any new Present Levels of Educational Performance.
Edit old PLEPs so they apply to this year or delete them and write in new PLEPs.
Make any changes needed in Section 3. Special Factors.
Make any changes need in how annual goals will be measured and reported to parents.
To delete old goals select Edit Goals.
A Goals Edit window will open.
Change the annual goals from Active to Deleted. Select Save.
At this point the Edit Goals window should close and after about 20 seconds the goals will be deleted from the IEP worksheet. If the window does not close then close it yourself by clicking the x box in the upper right hand corner of the Edit Goals window . . .
. . . the box will close. Open the Save Menu and Save Changes.
After about 20 seconds Goalview should finish saving your changes and return to the top of the IEP worksheet. If you were successful in deleting the old goals you will see that Annual Goals** is now in red.
Scroll back down to Annual Goals and you will see the button that says, Click here to add goals for "Student" . Click that button.
The Goals window will open and you follow the same procedures as you did last year to add goals and objectives.
In Section 5. Services, you will see the services that you entered last year.
Add or edit any service that you need for the new IEP. Make sure that the date of initiation and duration are correct.
If the student will no longer receive a service that he did last year simply uncheck the box next to that service, open the Save Menu and Save Changes.
The service that you uncheck will be deleted.
Make any changes needed in State and District Assessment.
Add or edit Regular Curriculum and, if it applies, Transition.
If it applies, add or edit Special Requirements for Graduation. Adjust Placement Review as needed.
Make Changes in IEP Team Participants as needed.
Go to the Save Menu and Save Changes. (You can save changes as often as you like but be sure that you do it at the end so that all of the new information gets saved.)
After Goalview finishes saving it will take you to the top and all the sections should be either green or yellow.
To save this IEP on the Database you need to do a PDF Final Print. Open the View Menu and select Print.
Select PDF Final.
This is your new IEP. You can print as many copies as needed and it will be available on the database for you to open at anytime.
You may Save Changes at any time during this process. In fact I would recommend saving your document several times as you are working. This will reduce your chances of losing any of your work and make sure that everything gets changed for the new IEP.
