Goalview Tutorials: How to Import Goalview Data into a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet.
The students used in these tutorial situations are fictional. The highest possible care has been taken to maintain the confidentiality of actual students on Goalview.

| After you login to Goalview select the Views button. |

| Then select Student Data. |

| Select IEP Due. |

Select Comma-Delimited. |

| If you are assigned to only one school you will want to leave this pull down menu set at Select All. |

| If you are assigned to more than one school then you may want to set this pull down menu at "is" and select the check box next to the schools you want to view . . . |

. . . or leave it set at Select All to view all of your schools at once. After the pull down menu and check boxes are set for what you want to view then click the View Button. |

| Goalview will work to gather the data that you have requested and display it or you may be given instructions such as the page above. Follow any instructions given. |

The view will look like this which is not practical for reading but can be loaded into an Excel Worksheet. Go to the Edit Menu. |

| Go to the Edit Menu and select Copy. |

We need to save what we have just copied as a Text File. Go to the start menu on your bottom menu bar. |

| Go to All Programs or Programs, go to Accessories, go to and select Notepad. |

| When the Notepad opens go to the Edit Menu and select Paste. |

| After you have pasted the data into the Notepad go to the File Menu and select Save As. |

Type in a File name for the file and find a place on your computer to save the file. For this tutorial I will save the file on the Desktop. Then click Save. |

| We are finished with the Note Pad for now so I will close it. |

| You may now close Goalview unless you are planning to come back and work in it some more later. |

| Looking at my Desktop I can see the Text file that I just saved and I am going to double click on Microsoft Excel and open up a worksheet. |

| Click on the Open File icon. |

| Go to the place on your computer where you have saved the Text File (Note Book file). For me it is on the Desktop. |

| I won't be able to see the file unless the file type is set to All Files or Text Files. |

| Select the file that you want to open and click the Open button. |

| We want the data to be Delimited so make sure that the Delimited radio button is selected, then select Next. |

| We want our data to be Comma Delimited so uncheck Tab and check Comma. |

| Select Finish. |

| The data will appear in the cells but will probably need to be adjusted. |

| You can now add to or delete from or alter the data in any way that is helpful to you. |

| When you save be sure to select Microsoft Excel Workbook as the type, select where on your computer you want it saved and click the Save button. |
