Autism Team Give a man a fish, and feed him for a day. Nebo School District 's Autism Team assists caregivers and educators with consultation, evaluation, and support services. We provide services for students whom we determine will benefit from intensive instruction that is based on the current best practices for teaching individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related disorders. Our mission is to facilitate interventions and model skills that will enable caregivers and educators to become confident and knowledgeable in working with students with ASD and related disorders. Upon caregiver or parent request, we also serve as a resource at IEP meetings.
Our team includes professional educators with backgrounds in teaching, speech and language pathology, and school psychology-all of whom are certified and have extensive experience, and participate in continuing education related to ASD and related disorders. We also have several experienced paraprofessionals on the team who assist students by implementing interventions such as applied behavioral analysis (ABA ), discrete trial training (DTT), Floortime, social interventions, and visual strategies. These paraprofessionals also may serve as temporary shadow supports while students work toward independence in the classroom. Our team also helps caregivers work toward program consistency & self-sufficiency in the home.
Our team works on a temporary basis to help establish efficient and effective programs that IEP teams can eventually run and supervise independently. When an IEP team determines that there may be a need for Autism Team services, the team should complete an Autism Team Services Referral Form , and contact Michele Thompson at 376-2556 or by email
