Richard Kay - Oakridge Principal I can think of no better way to finalize my 40+ years of experience as a professional educator than as principal of a new school serving special needs students. Opening a new building, creating a professional community of quality faculty and staff, developing new programs, expanding professional experiences and providing service to a very deserving population of students and parents all add up to one fantastic professional opportunity. My professional training and experiences include: B.S. and M.S. in Health and Physical Education from the University of Utah Five years teaching and coaching at the junior high school level in Granite School District Ph.D. in Educational Psychology and Human Development from Purdue University Twenty-five years as a teacher educator at Purdue University, Indiana University/Purdue University and Brigham Young University 10 years as a consultant for Educational Testing Service (ETS) developing such tests as National Teacher Evaluations (NTE), Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) 1 year as an assistant principal at Hunter Junior High School in West Valley City 10 years as a consultant on violence intervention and prevention for schools and school districts from California to Washington, D.C., Michigan to Texas A charter member of the Character Education Partnership currently located in Washington , D.C. 5 years as principal of Landmark High School in Nebo District 3 years as project administrator for No Child Left Behind (NCLB) in Nebo School District It is very clear in my mind that my experiences at Landmark High School and now at Oakridge School are the high points of my professional career. I am truly excited by this new opportunity and by the people who will share this experience with me.

Peggy Freek - Special Education Teacher I'm so excited to be here at Oakridge and teaching students with special needs. I have been in the field of disabilities for 17 years, and yes, I do not look that old. I have worked with the State of Utah for DSPD and for Tri Connections, working with adults with disabilities. It has been fun and now I'm looking forward to teaching. I had the opportunity to be my mother's caregiver for 6 years before she passed away, so I think I understand how parents feel about wanting the best care for their children. I am also a proud mother of two cats with disabilities and a great aunt to a 2 year old whom I spend most of my time with. I enjoy mowing my lawn of about a half acre with my rider mower. I also enjoy hanging out with my cats, family and friends. (In that order). |
