Teddy Spendlove - Special Education Teacher

My love for teaching goes back as far as high school where in the summer of 1966, I worked for three years as a camp director/counselor with 12-16 year old girls. In 1971, I graduated from Southern Utah State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with art and music minors. 1971-1973 I worked at Grant Elem. as the art teacher in the morning and a math aid in the afternoon. In 1978, I returned to teaching part time at Kinderland Pre-School and was a mom part time to my three boys. 1984 I taught at Franklin Elem. in Provo as a resource aid with grades K-6. 1986, I continued to sub in several schools in Provo and during the summer, I was a secretary at the Utah County Youth Home. In 1987, I was a long term Sp. Ed. sub for Grandview Elem. teaching first, second, and sixth grade students. In the fall, my teaching took me to several Orem schools and before long, I was a long term sub with a self-contained unit at Sharon Elem. 1988, I received my Special Ed. Endorsement and was asked to be a long term sub at Geneva Elem. with grade 6. The next year was the same school, but with grade 5. 1989, I signed a contract with Nebo District to teach at SJH. After 8 years there, I went to Sage Creek to teach in a self-contained unit for two years. Then it was on to Westside Elem. Those days were split with students from Title One and resource. My current location is at Westside with resource students.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy working in my yard, reading a good book, and watching movies.
