Mike Murray - Supervisor of Special Education/Federal Programs
After spending the first eighteen years of my life in Cherry Hill, N.J., I headed west to the vastly different cultural and environmental climate of BYU where I lost my New Joisey accent and my tolerance for humidity, but found my wonderful wife! (Not a bad trade!) At BYU I received my Bachelor's degree in psychology and my Master's degree in school psychology and began working in Nebo School District in 1976 as a school psychologist intern and have remained with the district since that time. MarVele Tycksen - Special Education Mentor Specialist (Mild/Moderate) "I spent seventeen satisfying years teaching in Resource classrooms in Jordan School District following my BA degree from the U of U. In 1998, my family purchased acreage in Salem County; we built a home and became 'city farmers'. Since then I have completed my Masters Degree, in School Counseling (2000), ESL endorsement (2002), and will begin a Reading Endorsement in the fall (2006). After one year in Nebo School District, my family moved to Columbus, Ohio, where I was able to use my Counseling degree. Following a year tour there, we returned to Salem, and I spent two memorable years teaching children from the Mt. Loafer community. Currently I am working as the Mild/Moderate Mentor for the Nebo School District. It is rewarding to see the growth and development the new teachers make; I really enjoy my position. Janelle Bond - Special Education Secretary I grew up in the lovely little community of Spring Lake, Utah, and graduated from Payson High, after which I attended "Ricks College" (BYU-Idaho), and graduated with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Office Education. I enjoyed two summers in Massachusetts, a year in Sandy, Utah, and an LDS mission to California. Immediately upon returning from my mission in 1991, I was employed at UVSC (UVU) in the office of the Dean of Trades and Technology. I very much enjoyed the opportunity to take classes while working there and dabbled in several things, my favorite being American Sign Language. Between night classes at BYU and classes at UVU, I was also able to complete an Associate Degree. Shortly after marrying my husband in 1993, we purchased property in Salem and built a home there, where we have been since. We have three children and love our life in Salem. In 1996, when my oldest was about eight weeks old, I was hired in the Special Education Office here in Nebo. I had always hoped to work in the School District Office, and have loved it here more than I ever dreamed! I also love being much closer to home, and associating with those who helped educate me!!!
