11563AP STUDIO ART- (2 Semesters - 1.0 Credit)
11564The AP program enables highly motivated students to do work in studio art while still in high school. AP Studio Art candidates submit a portfolio of work at the end of the school year. AP work does involve more time and commitment than most high school courses. The three sections of the portfolio are: Quality, the development of a sense of excellence in art; Concentration, a commitment in depth in a particular artistic concern; Breadth, a variety of experiences in the formal, technical, and expressive. Teacher permission required. (Grades 11,12)
10552DRAWING- (1 Semester - 0.5 Credit)
A course for students who have had the basics and want to expand their drawing skills. Emphasis will be on developing mastery of higher level drawing concepts, use of oils, extended techniques, and divergent production. Fee required: $10.00. Prerequisite: Art Foundations II (Grades 11, 12)
12002PAINTING 1- (1 Semester - 0.5 Credit)
A course that develops skills relating to the use of watercolor and using paint as the primary medium. Basic skills of color mixing and the effects of color are emphasized. Drawing skills are helpful. Fee required: $10.00. (Grades 10,11,12)
11902ART FOUNDATIONS 2- (1 Semester - 0.5 Credit)
An art class that develops basic drawing and design skills needed for all other art classes. A good general overview of how art relates to life. Fee required: $10.00 (Grades 10,11,12)
108523D DESIGN- (1 Semester-0.5 Credit)
An art course that provides an overview and introduction to fine crafts, their media, and the cultures they represent. With an emphasis on studio production, this course will focus on book arts, scrapbooking, design, layout, and sculpture. Fee Required: $10:00 (Grades 11,12)
88302COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY 1- (1 Semester - 0.5 Credit)
This course focuses on photography as another art form and the basic procedures for operating a camera, developing film & making prints and enlargements. All skills and procedures will be assessed including composition, camera functions, and lenses, types of film and photograhy history. Introduction to digital photography and Adobe Photoshop will be used to manipulate and restore photos. Students will mount and finish their work which will include a starter portfolio. Students must have access to a 35mm camera. (Grades 11,12)
88312COMMERCIAL PHOTOGRAPHY 2- (1 Semester - 0.5 Credit)
Instruction will be given on studio lighting, composition, the art of photography, types of cameras, lenses, digital printing, and darkroom film printing, and other aspects of commercial photography. This includes working with filters, printmaking techniques and other photography mediums. Students will study many areas of photography including: nature, architecture, modeling, wedding, sports and studio photography. Various techniques will be learned including shooting and scanning photos for digital manipulation using Adobe Photoshop. Advanced techniques using digital SLR cameras and software will be used to complete quality pictures for any type of photography business. Approximately half the class will consist of work in the darkroom and other digital output. Each student will create a professional portfolio and mount their work for presentation. Students must own or have access to their own 35 mm cameras. Prerequisite: Commercial Photography 1 and INSTRUCTOR APPROVAL. Concurrent Enrollment is offered. (Grades 11,12)
