83503HEALTH SCIENCE TECH - (2 Semesters - 1.0 Credit)

83504This class is highly recommended for those individuals interested in a medical career. This course will cover such topics as: medical terminology, first aid, sports medicine, nursing, pharmacy, medicine, reproduction, death education, physical therapy, dental assistant. Students will also have the opportunity to spend out of class time in some of these professions. A fun and exciting class. (Grades10,11,12)

83423NURSING ASSISTANT (CNA)- (2 Semester -1.0 Credit)

83424This class teaches the student to be a nurse on the first level. Hands-on experience is provided in the area which the student would like to train, such as nursing facility, medical and surgical. Students will be taught the fundamentals of nursing. At the end of the class, students will be qualified to take a State Certification test which will qualify them to work at an extended care facility or hospital. Students must be 16 or older to take the state test. Students must provide their own transportation to job shadow sites. Cost, $25.00. (Grades 11,12)

83093EXERCISE SCIENCE/SPORTS- (2 Semesters - 1.0 Credit)

83094The curriculum will consist of advanced first aid, physical therapy and sports medicine techniques, as well as physiology and anatomy. Emphasis is on prevention and treatment of sports injuries. Prerequisite: Health. Concurrent enrollment credit. (Grades 11,12)

38003HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY– (2 Semesters - 1.0 Credit)

38004Anatomy is the study of structure. Students will learn from hands on activities, the bones, muscles, nerves and other organ systems. Physiology is the study of function. Students will learn how the systems work, and function as parts of the living thing. Discussions will also include clinical studies of diseases. This course is designed for students who have an interest in a medical career or in studying the human body. Completion of this course will be excellent preparation for more advanced courses such as A.P. Biology and anatomy classes in college. Prerequisite: Biology
