This course helps students explore their creativity in the field of interior design. Students will learn and use the principles and elements of design as they relate to interior space, surface treatments, floor plans, and furniture arrangement. Field trips and individual projects are an important part of this course. (Grades 10,11,12)
84542ADVANCED INTERIOR DESIGN- (1 Semester - 0.5 Credit)
This course follows beginning interior design students as they continue to develop skills relating to architecture, furniture styles and construction, window treatments, lighting and other aspects of design. Projects and presentations are an important part of this course. (Grades 10,11,12)
84082CLOTHING 1 (SPORTS SEWING)- (1 Semester -0.5 credit)
This course teaches students basic construction skills with an emphasis on fabrics and projects such as bags, hoodies, sweats, pajama pants, and other items for males and females. Topics such as sewing equipment, pressing, and textiles; as well as techniques such as casings, pockets, hems and buttons and buttonholes will be taught. Students may take this course more than once with teacher approval. Fee forsonal projects. (Grades 10,11,12)
84092CLOTHING 2- (1 Semester - 0.5 Credit)
This course is for students who already have sewing skills and want to learn advanced skills such as enclosed seams, facings and interfacings, fitting, zippers, and decorative sewing. Tailoring is also taught with the expectation that students will participate in the wool project contest. Students may take this course more than once with teacher approval. Fee for personal projects. (Grades 10, 11, 12)
10702NEEDLE ARTS- (1 Semester - 0.5 Credit)
The course will cover the development of hand sewing skills. Projects planned will help students learn several of these needle arts skills: counted cross stitch, embroidery, crochet, applique, quilting, and smocking. This course counts toward filling Fine Arts or vocational requirements. Fee for personal projects. (Grades 10,11,12)
84132DESIGNER SEWING/FASHION DESIGN– (1 Semester - .5 Credit)
This course is designed for students who have interests in the fields of design, apparel, textiles, and clothing construction. Individual projects using design principles will be used as vehicles to further develop the students’ skills. Experiences may include pattern design, surface design, principles of clothing construction, fitting and alteration, custom sewing, home decorating, and other entrepreneurial opportunities. Students may take this course more than once with teacher approval. (Grades 10, 11,12)

This course is for students who are interested in understanding the principles of nutrition and in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Attention will be given to the selection and preparation of food for personal health and well-being. (Grades 10,11,12)
84782FOOD AND NUTRITION 2- (1 Semester - 0.5 Credit)
This course is for students who are interested in understanding the principles of nutrition and food preparation with a global perspective. Students will be introduced to various food cultures, food patterns in the family life cycle, consumer skills, and learn meal management. Advanced food science and preparation techniques will be included in this course. Students will prepare ethnic foods and study other cultures. (Grades 10,11,12)
89842CULINARY ARTS/CHEF PREP– (Per. 2&3 - 1 Semester - 1.0 Credits)
Learn to perform quality food preparation as it relates to catering, bakery, restaurant, and fast food operations. You will also learn sanitation, nutrition, menu planning, use and care of commercial equipment and business management. You will also learn menu item pricing, presentation and public relation skills. This class is held at the Nebo Learning Center, Springville. Concurrent Enrollment credit is possible in this class. (Grades 11, 12)
84403ADULT ROLES & FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES– (2 Semesters -1.0 Credit)
84404This course prepares students to understand the nature, function, and significance of individual and family relationships integrated with general financial literacy. Topics include: decision-making to set and implement financial goals, values, communication skills, self-awareness, families, sources of income and the relationship between income and career preparation, crisis management, marriage preparation, marriage, money management, saving, investing, parenting, and retirement planning. Students who complete the entire course fulfill the General Financial Literacy graduation requirement. FCCLA may be an integral part of the course. (Grades 11, 12)
84062CHILD DEVELOPMENT- (1 Semester - 0.5 Credit)
This course provides students with an understanding of the aspects of human growth and development. Parenting skills are developed as positive guidance techniques and child-related issues are studied. Learning activities, observation techniques, and lab experiences in working with young children may be included. (Grades 10,11,12)
84452CHILD CARE 1 (ELEMENTARY AGE CHILD)– (1 Semester - 0.5 Credit)
This course prepares students with more extensive skills for parenting or child related careers such as teaching, nursing, social work, psychology, etc... Students will work with teachers and children in local elementary schools. Students must arrange their own transportation. (Prerequisite: Child Development and INSTRUCTOR APPROVAL - based on your attendance record.) (Grades 11,12)
84072CHILD CARE 2 (PRE-SCHOOL LAB)- (1 Semester - 0.5 Credit)
This course covers the stages of the developing PRESCHOOL child. Students create lesson plans, teach in the preschool lab, and work as a teacher aide in local elementary schools. Students must arrange their own transportation to the elementary school. (Prerequisite: Child Development and INSTRUCTOR APPROVAL - based on your attendance record.) (Grades 11,12)
