Skills taught include journalizing, posting, worksheet and statement preparation. The popular software, Quickbooks is utilized extensively. This class fills the Information Technology requirement and is a Concurrent Enrollment class. (Grades 11, 12)

41253ADVANCED COMMUNICATIONS (Business Communications/Technical Writing)- (2 Semesters - 1.0 Credits)

41254Advanced Communications teaches communication foundations, business/technical writing,language arts and business communications applications in a computer-input setting. The curriculum is designed to develop career-related and day-to-daycommunication skills utilizing professional tasks, literary works, and traditional English usage approaches. Students will learn what communicationsskills they need to reach their occupational and personal goals. Units in the following areas will be covered: persuasive/negative letter writing, resumewriting, interviewing, listening, problem solving, oral communications, business report writing, vocabulary building, etc. This class fulfills the Language Artsrequirement for English 12 or an Information Technology requirement. Concurrent Enrollment is available. (Grade 12)

85332ADVANCED WORD PROCESSING & KEYBOARDING II- (1 Semester - 0.5 Credit)

This is an intermediate keyboarding course which emphasizes the building of keyboarding speed and accuracy. In addition, students learn to prepare manuscripts, business letters, tables, and agendas. They also learn to do merges, sorts, and graphics projects. This course fills the Information Technology graduation requirement and is a Concurrent Enrollment class. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Computer Technology and a tested keyboarding skill of 36 wpm or above. (Grades 10, 11, 12)

82472ADVERTISING/MARKETING- (1 Semester - 0.5 Credit)

This course provides students with an understanding of basic marketing principles and advertising strategies. Students will learn appropriate use of display space, television, radio, newspaper, and other media. Students will participate in activities where they will create, produce, and effectively evaluate the efficiency of various advertising strategies. This course fills the Information Technology graduation requirement. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Computer Technology (Grades 11, 12)

85452 ENTREPRENEURSHIP- (1 Sem. 0.5 Credit)

This class provides an awareness of career opportunities and the importance of business in our global economy. Students will explore the traits and characteristics of successful business owners. They will learn strategies of business management and marketing and the economic role of the small business in a free-market system. Students will experience real world business applications through guest speakers and field trips to a variety of local businesses. (Grades 10, 11, 12)

Students will demonstrate a basic knowledge of the Internet and how to use its vast resources effectively. HTML and Web Publishing software will be used to create, format, illustrate, design, edit, and publish Web pages. An emphasis will be placed on the application of the Internet in business. Proofreading, document composition, and effective communication will also be emphasized. This course fills the Information Technology graduation requirement. Concurrent Enrollment credit is available. Prerequisites: Successful completion of Computer Technology, extensive knowledge of word processing and a tested keyboarding speed of 36 wpm or above. 85932ADVANCED BUSINESS WEB PAGE DESIGN– (1 Semester - 0.5Credit)

This course is a continuation of the Business Web Page Design class. HTML and Web publishing software will be used to create, format, illustrate, design, edit, and publish Web pages. This course provides skill development in the electronic procedures of producing, editing, publishing, and maintaining documents on the Internet. Proofreading, document composition, and effective communication will also be emphasized. This course fills the Information Technology graduation requirement. Prerequisites: B grade or better in Business Web Page Design, extensive knowledge of word processing, and a tested keyboarding speed of 36 wpm or above. (Grades 11, 12)

85182COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY - (1 Semester - 0.5 Credit)

Computer Technology is a state required class and should be taken during 9 or 10 grade. The course provides training in computer application software including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing. In addition, skill on the alphabetic and numeric keyboards is developed. (Grade 10)

85212ADVANCED COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY– (1 Semester - 0.5 Credit)

This course is a continuation of Computer Technology and builds on the word processing, spreadsheet, and database skills already acquired. Included is the use of Internet browsers to locate information for professional and personal use. Students are introduced to e-mail basics and etiquette. This class fulfills the Information Technology requirement. Concurrent Enrollment credit is available. Prerequisites: C grade or better in Computer Technology and a tested keyboarding speed of 36 wpm or above. (Grades 10, 11, 12)

85902DESKTOP PUBLISHING - (1 Semester - 0.5 Credit)

Students will create, format, illustrate, design, edit/revise, and print publications such as newsletters, flyers, brochures, advertising, materials, business cards, reports, and resumes. Proofreading, document composition, and effective communication are also emphasized. This course fills the Information Technology requirement. Concurrent Enrollment credit is available. Prerequisites: Extensive knowledge of word processing and a tested keyboarding speed of 36 wpm or above. (Grades 11, 12)

This course focuses on the study of economic problems and the methods by which societies solve them. Characteristics of the market economy of the United States and its function in the world and methods of applying economics to one’s life will be explored. This class fulfills the Social Science elective requirement. (Grades 10, 11, 12)

This introductory course exposes students to basic business and fashion fundamentals including retail business principles, fashion promotion, and the basics of designing and producing apparel. (Grades 11, 12)

86703MULTIMEDIA DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT– (2 Semesters - 1.0 Credit)

86704Students will create interactive computer projects using the elements of text, graphics, animation, sound, video and digital imaging. Instruction includes the use of Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Flash, Bryce, and Premiere. This course fills the Information Technology requirement and Concurrent Enrollment credit is offered.(Grades 11, 12)

This course introduces students to multimedia, networking, hardware problem solving, and programming. It is recommended for students who are interested in exploring a career in the field of Information Technology. Prerequisite: Computer Technology 1 (Grades 11, 12)
