1.        Beginning practice and team selection date is February 25, 2008. First practice game may be held on or after March 3, 2008.

 

2.        A maximum of 22 games can be played. All games count.

 

3.        The National Federation of State High School Association Official Softball Rules are to be            followed.

 

4.        One trophy will be awarded to the region champ. Co-champions will both be awarded a            trophy in the case of a tie.

 

5.        All games should be completed by May 6, 2008 to allow make-up games to be completed            on or before May 10, 2008.

 

6.        Two approved umpires will be provided by the arbitrator.  Only certified umpires may be            used for varsity games.

 

7.        All region varsity games will begin at 3:30 p.m. JV games will begin 20 minutes after the            completion of varsity. Sophomore games will begin at 4:00 p.m. All games will be hosted            by the home school and will be 7 innings with the ten run rule taking effect after the 5th            inning. Sophomore games will play three outs or six runs per inning.

 

8.        Any varsity league games postponed by weather must be made up at the first available date and in the order they were originally scheduled. Games can be rescheduled without region clearance for weather and poor field conditions only. Home teams should notify the away team and officials by 12:00 noon on the day of the game if conditions are such that a game needs to be cancelled.

 

9.        Home (host) schools are responsible for the official scorekeeper, checks for officials, field            management and reporting scores to the media.

 

10.      All-Region first and second team players will be selected by the coaches after all region            games have been played. Coaches must email or bring the names of their All-Stars to the            softball chairperson prior to the meeting.  This meeting is to be hosted by the winning            school. Selection of All-Region players is based on the following guidelines:
            a.          Coaches will not be allowed to vote for their own players.
            b.          Teams will be represented with the following guidelines unless all coaches agree                         to make exceptions. First place team- 4 players, second place team - 3 players,                            third place team - 3 players, fourth place team - 2 players, fifth place team - 2                                players, sixth place team - 1 player. Second place team:  All teams may have up                           to three players on the second team.
            c.          First and second teams will consist of 14 players unless all coaches agree to                                 make exceptions.
            d.          After the state tournament, the region chair will report the All-Region teams to the                         media.

 

11.      An All-Region Academic team will be selected. All seniors who are members of a varsity            region team are eligible. Students must have a minimum 3.7 GPA to be considered. The            region chair will report the academic team to the media.
