REGION ACTIVITY CHAIRPERSON: Chad Wilson American Fork High School (Phone) 756-8547 (Fax) 756-8575
1. Starting Date for football is August 6, 2007. An Endowment game may be held on August 17th or 18th, regular Varsity games held August 23rd, and the first JV/Sophomore games may be held August 23rd. Each team is allowed to play 9 regular season games (non- endowment or post-season games).
2. Out of Season Participation is restricted by the following guidelines: Dead Time or competitions, nor coach/player contact related to the sport. Spring (from end of 12 week dead time to Memorial Day): no organized practice or intra-school scrimmages, no competitions or scrimmages with other schools, no helmets or pads worn. Summer (Memorial Day to 3 weeks prior to start date): 5 consecutive days in pads may be requested in writing to the Activities Association prior to the use of any pads. Fall (3 weeks prior to start date): participation must be optional. Week 1: no organized workouts, conditioning and weightlifting only; Weeks 2 & 3: helmets only workouts permitted.
3. Region Scheduling order of games will rotate one down every year (last game moved to the first game), giving all Region schools a bye on UEA week.
4. Tie Breakers will be decided according to Region policy. Where neutral sites cannot be found, home school for tie break games will be determined by coin flip.
5. Change of Date must be approved by Board of Managers after mutual agreement is reached between schools concerned. Change of date should be approved at least one week prior to date. Host school must notify other Region IV Head Football Coaches. Host school to notify arbiter of change ($50.00 fee to change).
6. Change of Time can be made by mutual agreement of both schools concerned. Host school must notify arbiter of the change in time for him to notify the officials. Host school or Region IV school in non-region game must notify other Region IV schools. All officials (Varsity, JV and Sophomore) will be arbited by the UHSAA.
7. Game Time/Place will be 7:00 p.m. for Varsity, 4:00 p.m. for Junior Varsity (played day before Varsity on the opposite site) and 4:00 p.m. for Sophomore (played day before Varsity on the same site). Seniors are allowed to participate in Junior Varsity games. Only Sophomores are allowed to play in Sophomores games. A maximum of 5 quarters to be played on any day.
8. Uniforms for Home Varsity, Junior Varsity and Sophomore games will be dark, while traveling teams will wear light jerseys.
9. Dressing Facilities, including a chalkboard, will be provided by the home school. Each school will provide their own towels. Locker rooms will be cleared one and one-half hours before game. A guide will meet the bus to show to locker room, etc. Efforts to secure locker rooms during games are expected of the home administration. JV and sophomore teams will dress at their own schools.
10. Region IV Prices will be charged at only Varsity games, including non-Region games (excluding endowment and playoff games where state prices are charged).
11. If teams pick each other up when Using Headsets, both teams will turn them off and discontinue their use until the problem is resolved. Each year, a Region IV coach will contact Portaphone with the Region Schedule (Monte Morgan will contact for the 2007 season).
13. Scouting is to be done from the spectator bleachers.
14. Coaches shall communicate with the other Region schools/coaches during the season:
a. Each Region School is expected to Exchange Two Game Films (DVD) in preparation for their Varsity games. Scouts/Coaches from the visiting school for next week’s game will bring the tapes of their two previous games for exchange (Orem Center Street Burger King Saturday, 8:00 a.m. default exchange). These games should be taped on separate tapes. The visiting team at the Varsity game will initiate the return of tapes. Videos will include filming when huddle breaks, all plays with a pre-snap alignment at wide angle and still shots of the scoreboard by quarter and after each scoring play. Teams will exchange films recorded by adult filmers. It is not ethical to edit films or film a team when scouting. The same extension of courtesy will be given visiting filmers as to home filmers. Provisions will be extended to “spotters” for both teams. All post-season film exchanges will be at the discretion of the individual coaches.
b. Each coach will send Schedules and Team Rosters to all Region schools by Friday, August 31, 2007. The roster shall contain the name, grade level, height, weight and number of each athlete.
c. The Region Coaches Meeting will be held on November 5, 2007 at 4:30 p.m. at the Region Champion’s school (unless otherwise arranged). All Region MVPs (1O, 1D, 2S), All-Region IV Players (6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 2) Honorable Mention (5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 5), and Academic All-Region (Varsity athletes with a 3.7 or higher cumulative GPA) will be determined.
