REGION ACTIVITY CHAIRPERSON: Rhonda Bromley Lone Peak High School (Phone) 763-7050 (Fax) 763-7064
1. Region drill team competition will be conducted under the rules and guidelines of the UHSAA competition regulations.
2. Identified drill team members, in uniform, accompanied by a coach, will be admitted to games without charge.
3. The team coach must attend a UHSAA clinic for coaches and judges prior to the region meet.
4. Each school must declare dates for the six-week summer moratorium (no practices, performances or competitions) as stated on the "six week summer moratorium schedule for drill teams" sheet from the UHSAA handbook. There is no starting or ending date for practice or competition.
5. There shall be no deduction of points for using used uniforms in competition. Schools are encouraged to maintain a "costume closet" for flexibility and originality without the expense of new costumes. Judging sheets shall not reflect if the costume is new or flashy. The annual maximum fee per girl is $600.00. If the schools add money, it lowers the amount that the girl pays. This fee includes all costs from the girl, whether it comes from out-of-pocket expense, fund raisers or donations.
6. This maximum fee excludes summer camps or the travel to and from those camps and post-season trips. There is a limit of $250.00 for camp-related expenses: camp fee and a rehearsal uniform.
7. Teams may participate in no more than four invitational competitions, including the region meet.
8. Drill team coaches must attend a mandatory meeting prior to the region drill team competition. If you do not have a representative at this meeting, your team will be performing first in each category. The meeting will be held @ Lone Peak High School on Monday, January 7 @ 6:00 p.m. All coaches must bring with them the following information for the region program: * Names of the drill team members. * Names of the school administration and athletic director. * Categories in which you will be competing. * Nomination for all-region drill team. * Team members which qualify for academic all-region (3.7 cumulative GPA). * The name of the performing group from your school for Region competition.
9. No males will be allowed in the dressing rooms during the day of the region competition.
10. The following awards will be given at the region drill team competition: * Three plaques - first place in each category (Military, Dance & Prop). * First - fifth place medals for the drill down competition. * Trophy for the overall team winner. * Certificates for the All-Region team. (Up to 3 members from each team selected by their drill team coach). * Certificates provided by the Region Administrator for All-Region and Academic All-Region drill team.
11. The top 4 teams, based on a combination of the highest 4 scored at the region meet, will be allowed to go to the state meet. The region meet will be used to determine a region champion.
12. To avoid any problems on the state level, all region competitions must follow the state rules. A standard packet will be prepared at the state office and sent to each region competition host school to insure that state rules and forms are followed. A fine will be assessed for non-compliance.
