REGION ACTIVITY CHAIRPERSON:  Debbie Zirbes

Timpanogos High School (Phone) 223-3120 (Fax) 223-3134

1.           Beginning Date: February 28, 2008

2.           First Practice Game: March 3, 2008

3.           All league games (varsity, JV, sophomore) will begin at 3:30 p.m. before daylight savings time and 4:00 p.m. after daylight savings time.  Home team will have the infield 30 minutes before game time.  Visiting teams will have the infield 15 minutes before game time.  If the visiting team is late they shall forfeit warm-up time so the game will not be delayed.

4.           Game time may only be changed by agreement of the two principals involved.

5.           After a postponed game, the game must be made up on the first available date, except Sunday however, a Saturday make-up game must be approved by both coaches and principals involved.  Varsity make-up games take precedence over regularly scheduled JV or sophomore games.  During the first round of region play, teams may flip-flop the schedule if the visiting field is playable and the home field isn’t.  If a question is raised as to whether the field is playable, the home school principal or designee will check the field.  If this rule is violated, the home team will forfeit the game.

.

Games may be postponed without region clearance for:

             a. Poor weather conditions

             b. Unplayable fields

6.           No team shall attempt to change their schedule for the purpose of gaining an advantage on pitching rotation or other pertinent factors.

7.           Each team is expected to play a JV and sophomore schedule with each playing other members of the region at least twice.  JV teams will play Monday and Friday at the opposite site of the varsity game (when varsity games are Tuesday/Thursday).  Sophomore teams play the same day as the varsity teams at opposite sites.

8.           A maximum of 22 games will be played (all games count).  In a tournament, each game counts.  (See State Handbook)

9.           When an official game is tied and called because of darkness or weather, the game will be resumed on the next available date.  When an unofficial game is called, it is a suspended game and will be replayed from the point where it left off.  All substitution rules remain in effect.

10.         The home team will be responsible to have an official scorekeeper.

11.         The 10-run rule after 5 innings will be used.

12.         A trophy will be awarded to region champions or co-champions.

13.          In the event of a tie, the region tie breaker rule will apply.

14.         At the end of the regular region season, the region activity chairperson will collect names from each coach of players who will be nominated to the All-Region first team.  The coach of the first place team will nominate the region MVP and up to five other players.  The second place coach will nominate up to four players, the third place coach will nominate up to three players, and the fourth and fifth place coaches will each nominate up to two players from their respective teams.  The region chair will send out a list of nominees and coaches will vote (confirm) the selections.  Coaches may not vote for their own players.    Players must receive 3 of the 5 possible votes to be named MVP or on the first team.  Players will be named to the second team at the discretion of each coach.
