| Tardy Policy
"
Tardy" means going to a class after the tardy bell has rung.
If a student is more than ten minutes late to class, the impact upon
the academic grade will be the same as for an absence. It is the
responsibility of any student who is tardy to class to meet with
the teacher either during or following the class period to ensure
that he/she was marked tardy and not absent.
Tardiness is considered a disciplinary issue as well as an attendance
issue. Each school, with approval of its School Community Council,
may develop additional procedures for dealing with excessive tardiness.
For each tardy students will be asked to serve a thirty minute
detention. Parents will be notified by phone (when possible) and
students will be notified in writing. Students are given two days
to serve the detention which is held each day before and after
school from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. If
students do not serve the detention they will be placed on an ineligible
list and will be unable to attend school activities until the detentions
are served.
